Toshiba Encore 2 Write 8″ & 10″ Windows 8.1 Pen Tablets
Intel have leaked two new Windows 8.1 tablets coming from Toshiba sometime soon, and these are the Toshiba Encore 2 Write 8-inch and 10-inch Windows 8.1 tablets with pen support.
(UPDATED: Toshiba Encore 2 Write 8 With Wacom Digitizer Released January 5, 2015)
The information that the processor manufacturer Intel have leaked for the Toshiba Encore 2 Write tablets, is that they have quad-core Intel Atom Z3735 processors, runs Windows 8.1, comes in the two sizes 8-inch and 10.1-inch, are equipped with a 1.2MP front camera and a 8MP rear camera, and have some kind of digitizer or pen support, with support for TrueCapture as well.
And this is what it looks like.
It looks identical to the regular Toshiba Encore 2 8 and Toshiba Encore 2 10, Toshiba have only added the pen and some extra software features it seems. This means that the screen resolution should be either 1280 x 800 or higher. Toshiba's last premium Write tablet, the Toshiba Excite Write had 2560 × 1600 resolution though.
Asus did something similar recently, just the other way around, when they launched a new Windows 8.1 tablet which was essentially a Asus VivoTab Note 8 without the digitizer, so it simply became the Asus VivoTab 8.
The release of the Toshiba Encore 2 Write is expected within early October. We don't know the prices yet, but as a reference, the price for the regular Toshiba Encore 2 8 is $179 at the moment.
