Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (SM-T355) Bluetooth Certified

(UPDATED: Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 Released)

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0, the tablet that otherwise would have been the Samsung Galaxy Tab 5 8.0 if Samsung had continued using the model name another year, appears to have been Bluetooth certified with the model name SM-T355.

The same thing happened to the larger 9.7-inch version a couple of days earlier, which makes me wonder if maybe we’ll see Samsung unveil their fifth line of tablets in this family at MWC in early March. It would certainly fit as far as timing is concerned. The Galaxy S6 smartphone will be unveiled at MWC too.

What is believed to be the 8.0 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (SM-T355) will mostly run the same specs as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, except that it should run a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, and feature a 2MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera.

Samsung actually lowered the rear camera resolution on the present Tab 4 8.0, which is a 3MP camera, because the Tab 3 8.0 actually had a 5MP rear camera. So the fifth model will simply see a return to a 5MP rear camera.

The front camera have had a resolution of 1.3MP on both of the last two models, so with a 2MP front camera, that’s the first front camera upgrade in a couple of years, as far as megapixels is concerned anyway.

Another upgrade is Bluetooth 4.1, which we last saw on the Nexus 9, and the “hot new 2015 aspect ratio” (“new” for Android and Windows tablets anyway) 4:3 ratio is expected to be on board too. RAM is assumed to remain at 1.5GB.

If someone need more RAM, Samsung have several 3GB RAM tablets anyway, like the Galaxy Tab S line, Galaxy Note line, or Galaxy Tab Pro lines.
