Tabletmonkeys Reviews Tabletmonkeys Reviews |
Pros: - Good battery life - Affordable price point - Interesting desktop mode for more PC-like multitasking Cons: - Low screen resolution - Desktop mode felt a bit sluggish - Not suitable for heavy gaming or demanding tasks |
The overall rating is based on review by our dedicated team and users.
Blackview's latest foray into the affordable tablet space comes in the form of the aptly named Tab 7. After testing, we found that it accomplishes this goal fairly well.
Light Yet Bulky Design
The Blackview Tab 7 sports a rather generic design with thick bezels and a plastic construction. While it feels slightly bulky at 8.9mm thick, the tablet is respectably light at 536g.
We appreciate that it has a grippy texture that makes it easy to hold. The curved edges also lend a bit of flair. However, smudges and fingerprints stand out clearly on the glossy back.
Vibrant Mid-Range Display
This budget tablet comes equipped with a 10.1-inch IPS LCD at 800 x 1280 resolution. Images and videos look sharp enough, with reasonably vibrant color reproduction.
Viewing angles could be wider but are passable. Our main gripe is with the maximum brightness—it may be too dim for outdoor viewing.
There is also significant reflectivity. Still, the screen size makes for an immersive media consumption experience.
Capable Internals for Basic Use
An Unisoc Tiger T310 chipset and 3GB of RAM power the Tab 7’s operations. Performance is best described as capable. The device handles most everyday tasks like web browsing, video streaming, and social media smoothly.
However, we noticed occasional slowdowns with heavier multitasking. More demanding users may find it underpowered. But casual users should have no problem.
Excellent Battery Life
A huge positive for the Blackview slate is its exceptional battery endurance. The large 6,580mAh cell lasted over 2 days of mixed-use in our testing.
Even heavy users can likely get through 1.5 days before needing to recharge. 10W wired charging feels rather slow but is understandable for cost savings.
Serviceable Cameras and Audio
With a 5MP rear and 2MP selfie shooter, the picture quality is simply average. They work fine for the occasional shot but show their limitations in detail and dynamic range.
Video recording maxes out at 1080p as well. Audio output via the bottom-firing stereo speakers is also just decent—the sound gets loud enough but starts distorting at higher volumes.
Worthwhile Pick Under Tight Budgets
It is difficult to find better spec sheets than the Blackview Tab 7 in its ultra-affordable price bracket. It nails down the basics like battery life while offering usable performance for casual use.
As long as you do not expect premium features and blazing speeds, this wallet-friendly tablet delivers on its core functions. For kids or less demanding adults, we easily recommend it as a practical pick.
