Blackview has released the Tab 5, an affordable 8-inch Android tablet. The Blackview Tab 5 offers solid value for those seeking a compact slate on a budget.
Sporting a no-frills design, the Tab 5 features a plastic body measuring 211.2 x 126.2 x 9.7mm and weighing 355g. It packs an 8-inch IPS LCD with modest 800 x 1280 resolution.
Hardware is basic but capable, with a quad-core Cortex-A35 processor, Mali-G31 MP2 graphics, 3GB RAM, and 64GB storage expandable via microSD card.
On the software front, the Tab 5 ships with Android 12 and Blackview’s custom Doke OS 3.0 interface.
Camera capabilities are modest, with a 2MP rear shooter and 0.3MP selfie cam. Connectivity includes dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and a USB-C port with OTG support.
A sizeable 5,580mAh battery promises lengthy runtimes.
The compact form factor and Android OS make it handy for media consumption on the go. Smooth performance is ensured by the capable quad-core processor and 3GB RAM.
The microSD slot enables ample content storage, while the USB-C port facilitates convenient charging and file transfers. Long battery life also stands out as a key selling point.
However, frugal shoppers will have to accept some trade offs. The low-res 800×1280 display looks dated compared to sharper 1080p+ panels found on pricier slates.
Imaging power is also limited due to the basic 2MP/0.3MP camera specs. Connectivity is likewise behind the curve, lacking support for modern Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6 standards.
Still, at this bargain price point, the Blackview Tab 5 punches above its weight as a portable media tablet for tight budgets.
