Asus has unveiled its latest flagship tablet, the Transformer Pad TF701T. This high-spec device aims to compete with premium slates like the iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tabs. Its standout features include robust hardware, a stunning display, and a clever docking station for laptop-style flexibility.

Speedy Processor, Sharp Screen Impress

The Transformer Pad is the first tablet to pack Nvidia’s new Tegra 4 chip. This quad-core powerhouse delivers exceptional speed and smoothness when navigating Android or playing graphics-intensive games. The tablet never feels sluggish, even when juggling demanding apps.

Matching the fast internals is a gorgeous 10.1” screen with an ultra-sharp 2560 x 1600 resolution. It utilizes IPS technology for vivid colors and wide viewing angles. Photos and videos look fabulous on the display.

Text and app graphics appear crisp. The screen excels whether you are reading, watching or gaming.

Dock Adds Storage, Keys, Battery Life

A major selling point for Asus Transformer tablets is the available keyboard dock accessory. The TF701T’s dock snaps into the slate easily to form a mini laptop. It adds multiple benefits, including a backlit keyboard, touchpad, SD card reader and USB 3.0 port. These expand productivity potential.

The dock also packs an extra battery to lengthen runtime beyond the tablet’s 12 hours. Together, the TF701T and its dock can last an incredible 17 hours on a single charge.

Premium Design with Minor Quirks

Encasing these excellent capabilities is an aluminum rear shell lending a premium look and feel. However, the Transformer Pad weighs nearly 1.3 lbs — hefty for a 10-inch tablet. And its thick screen bezel increases overall size.

While audio output is reasonably loud and clear, the solitary rear speaker somewhat limits sound quality. Its positioning also allows hands to block sound when holding the tablet sideways.
