What iPads To Expect From Apple’s September 12 Event – If Any
So Apple is finally holding their large autumn event on Wednesday, September 12th. The three new iPhones have been leaked a lot beforehand, but the iPads not so much, because Apple have made an effort to plug the holes that leaks information since last year.
(UPDATE: With no iPads being unveiled at today's event, the financial analysts believe that we will see these tablets unveiled at the later October event instead.)
But some information, traces, leaks, and rumors have seeped out of course, and it even started in November last year for the upcoming new iPad Pros.
The current 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro tablets were launched in June last year, so they are already 15 months “old” by now, even though they have very high benchmarks. Nevertheless, they do seem due for replacements, and here's the information that's been gathered on them by now.
The 10.5-inch iPad Pro may be enlarged to 11 inches, though analysts are divided on this, with some reputable analysts having reason to belive it will be enlarged to 11 inches, and others believing it will stay at 10.5 inches. The new iPad Pro 12.9 should remain at 12.9 inches.
The design is believed to change to more narrow bezels all around the new iPad Pros, with a constant size of the bezel on all sides. Around the frame, it is rumored to be diamond cut, with possibly a more square frame too. The 10.5 or 11-inch iPad Pro is said by industry insiders to slim down from 6.1mm to 6mm in thickness, with the 12.9 iPad Pro slimming down from 6.9mm to 6.4mm, and that's all very thin.
The home button fingerprint reader is believed to disappear and secure login will be replaced by Face ID facial login instead. The processor is believed to be a new A11X -octa-core processor, which I expect to deliver multi-core scores of over 10.000 in Geekbench 4.
To launch with the upcoming iOS 12, other changes are rumored to be the Smart Connector possibly relocated to the bottom, and a new faster charger. With more narrow bezels, we'll have to wait to see two more days how Apple have thought about swipe gestures and other new features for the next 2018-2019 Apple iPad Pros.
