Samsung SM-W700 Officially Bluetooth Certified + New Listing

Just as we cautioned yesterday against waiting for the release of a 12-inch Windows 10 2-in-1 tablet from Samsung before Christmas due to lack of new leaks, we got two new leaks for the possible Samsung SM-W700 tablet within a couple of hours.

And we got the first leak from an official register, and it's the Bluetooth certification body.

The device that is simply listed as Samsung SM-W700 is given the description “Samsung Mobile Device” which means it has the potential to be either a tablet or a phone. Under “Product Type” it is listed as “Controller Subsystem” but this is technical Bluetooth speak, and doesn't refer to the whole device, just the Bluetooth part of it. Usually for a tablet though, the description is “End Product”.

The Bluetooth certification was listed today, on November 19.

The second listing is a new import to India from South Korea, filed on November 17 and listed today.
And in those papers, the Samsung SM-W700 continues to be listed as a 12-inch tablet. In the same papers, a C-Type cover for a Samsung tablet was also imported for testing in India.

So where does that leave us at this point?
So far, these are the only two reliable sources that mentions the Samsung SM-W700. And only the listing in India refers to it as a tablet. But because of the official “Samsung Mobile Device” description at the Bluetooth certification body, it is either a tablet or a phone if Samsung follows protocol.

The reason why it could also be a phone is because an existing Samsung Ativ phone has the model name Samsung SM-W750. This is a 5-inch Windows Phone 8 smartphone that was launched in April last year.

But whatever it is, at least it has now been certified with Bluetooth 4.1. So that's the first official specification.
The rumor has it that this is a 4K Windows 10 tablet with 6th generation Intel Core processor, but that's still just a rumor.
