We noticed minor backlight bleeding on the top of the screen that stands out on black backgrounds. More annoying are the random reboots and freezes I've experienced twice already. When rebooting, the loud speakers make it feel like the tablet is exploding. We rate the A510 a mediocre 5 out of 10. The hardware problems especially make it hard to endorse. I suggest interested buyers wait and see if Acer addresses the complaints before purchasing. - Tablet-News.com |

I'm reviewing the Acer Iconia Tab A510 tablet. I found the tablet to feel solid when held. The gritty texture on the back makes it comfortable, though a bit heavier than the Asus Transformer Pad TF300. The tablet ships with Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Navigating the OS provides smooth 60 frames per second performance. Apps load quickly and Wi-Fi is fast. The "Acer Ring" returns from the A200 but I turned it off after a few moments since I don't find it that useful. It's comfortable to hold but there are cheaper, better options available. - CnetVEVO |

The tablet's Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU, saying it benchmarks similarly to the ASUS Transformer Prime. She also praises the A510's display quality, USB host capability, GPS functionality, and Ice Cream Sandwich software. The excellent gaming performance only losing 10% battery after an hour of play. Lisa also successfully connected various USB peripherals like game controllers. Overall she found the tablet to perform reliably with few stability issues. Lisa from MobileTechReview |

Pros: - Good performance with Tegra 3 quad-core CPU - Long battery life - Smooth gaming performance - Ice Cream Sandwich software Cons: - Minor backlight bleed on screen - Random reboots and freezes - Gets hot on the back - Slow charging time (8-10 hours) |
The overall rating is based on review by our dedicated team and users.
The Acer Iconia Tab A510, released in April 2012, promised a lot on paper – a powerful Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU, a 10.1-inch TFT display. However, the real-world experience seems to be a mixed bag, as users and reviewers have encountered several frustrations and bugs.
Design and Display
Starting with the physical aspects, the tablet feels solid with a comfortable gritty texture on the back, though it's slightly heavier than some competitors.
The 10.1-inch TFT display, while responsive, disappoints with washed-out colors, especially when viewed from off angles. Some users have reported minor backlight bleeding on the screen, adding to the list of disappointments.
Performance Issues
One major drawback is the prevalence of random reboots and freezes, leading to a less-than-pleasant user experience.
The loud speakers, during reboots, can be unnerving, giving the impression that the tablet is on the verge of exploding. These bugs have been highlighted in user reviews on Amazon and Best Buy, creating frustration among consumers.
Charging Woes and Heating
Charging the tablet's substantial 9800 mAh battery proves to be a test of patience, taking a frustratingly long 8-10 hours. The tablet tends to get hot on the back, adding to the discomfort.
The charging time and heat issues are aspects that users might find hard to overlook, especially in a market where faster-charging solutions are prevalent.
Camera and Speakers
The 5 MP rear camera and 1 MP front camera are described as basic, and the absence of a flash may disappoint users looking for a more versatile camera setup.
The speakers, despite being stereo, have received criticism for being too soft, further diminishing the multimedia experience.
Software and Performance
On the positive side, the tablet ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, offering a smooth 60 frames per second performance.
The Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU delivers strong performance, especially in gaming scenarios. However, the lack of games utilizing the full power of Tegra 3 has been noted as a missed opportunity.
Recommendation and Rating
Given the multitude of issues, the Acer Iconia Tab A510 receives a mediocre rating of 5 out of 10.
The hardware problems, random reboots, slow charging, and other frustrations make it challenging to recommend this tablet, especially when there are more affordable and reliable options available in the market.
In conclusion, the Acer Iconia Tab A510 seems to fall short of expectations, with various hardware and software issues hindering the overall experience.
The tablet's initial promise is marred by bugs, heating problems, and a less-than-competitive feature set. For potential buyers, exercising caution and waiting for Acer to address these issues might be the prudent course of action.
As it stands, the A510 fails to deliver the seamless and satisfying Android tablet experience that consumers are looking for.
