The Samsung Galaxy Tab AL 9.7 or if you will the 9.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 5.0, the particular model that filed with the FCC carries the model number 555, and is the 4G LTE version of the related 3G and Wi-Fi editions with the model numbers 551 and 550.
What is confirmed by the FCC documents is the new screen size, where the former 10.1-inch display is replaced by a 9.7-inch display. The display size is listed in millimeters at FCC, where the diagonal display is 246.38mm, which means that if you divide that by 25,4 which is the number of mm pr. inch, you get 9.7 inches.
What else could be gleaned from the FCC reports? Well nothing too exciting unfortunately since the photos are still confidential, but we did also get a confirmation on specs like dual-band 2.4 & 5 GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and for the SM-T555 model, GSM 850/1900 and LTE support too.
FCC filings is usually the last step before release in the US, so that indicates that the official unveiling of the new generation of tablets in this family is ready any time now. It can still take over a month before these tablets are announced though, since we haven't been notified of any new Galaxy Tab events yet.
