Microsoft devices chief Panos Panay announced on May 5 after the Surface Laptop and Windows 10 S event that the next major Microsoft press event he would attend, was in Shanghai on May 23. Now Evan Blass have leaked a few pictures of the Surface Pro 5, or simply the upgraded “Surface Pro 4 refresh” as it is believed to be. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/devices/surface-pro/overview
(UPDATE: New Surface Pro now unveiled)
The new Microsoft Surface Pro 5 specs were not revealed, though obviously everybody believes at this point that it will feature choices of 7th generation Intel Core “Kaby Lake” processors, which is the main component that needs to be upgraded to keep up with the likes of Asus Transformer Pro, Lenovo Miix 720, and Samsung Galaxy Book 12.
In December, one Chinese news source believed that an upgraded Surface Pro for the 2017 model year would feature a 4K display, Kaby Lake processor, and a new magnetic charging Surface Pen or some new type of stylus digitizer pen. We’ve heard nothing new about the purported 4K display since then, so that is probably off the table for this year in the new Surface Pro, but as Evan Blass leaked, at least we will get to see some new pens alongside the new Surface Pro tablet.
The Microsoft mouse that the new Surface Pro 5 is pictured with, is the new Surface Arc Mouse that will be released on June 15, at the same time as the Surface Laptop.
If the new Surface Pro tablet is unveiled next Tuesday on May 23rd, then it too should launch approximately at around the same time, with 3 weeks of pre-order time before the release date. If it’s released on June 18 as the background image on the Surface Pro could suggest.
