I purchased the Galaxy View 2 tablet myself to review it since Samsung does not send me products to review. My initial thought four years ago was that an 18-inch tablet would be too big to practically carry around. However, I was curious enough about this new 17.3-inch tablet to buy it myself for $740 to review it. The tablet comes with a case but it does not properly fit the tablet. So the tablet itself is not very portable. I was disappointed that the built-in kickstand does not allow the tablet to flip all the way around to protect the screen. The display is nice and bright but has limited viewing angles. The speakers are loud but the overall performance seems a bit laggy at times. - Jordan Keyes |

The speakers sound excellent, especially for videos. The display is nice and bright but viewing angles aren't the best. There's occasional lag but performance is decent for a big media tablet. I configured YouTube to launch in TV mode with a side swipe. You can also pop-up and split screen multiple apps. Overall, it's excellent for watching movies and shows, browsing, and social media. But it's not for max gaming performance or productivity. Still, if you want a giant Android entertainment tablet with great battery life and speakers, the Galaxy View 2 is a winner. - Flossy Carter |

It's an incredibly large 17.3-inch Android tablet that's basically like carrying a TV with you. The new version has upgrades like a faster processor, 12,000mAh battery for over 3 times the battery life, and up to 400GB expandable storage. The build seems solid but all-screen tablets like this are prone to cracking easily, so protection is a must. The quad speakers with Dolby Atmos sound great. Performance seems snappy thanks to the Exynos chipset and Android is very responsive. The kickstand redesign lies flatter now for easier typing when placed on a table. - herve fontaine |

In a world dominated by sleek and portable gadgets, Samsung decided to push the boundaries with the Galaxy View 2, a colossal 17.3-inch Android tablet aimed at media consumption enthusiasts. Released in April 2019, this hefty device packs mid-range specs and a few noteworthy features that set it apart in the tablet market.
Build and Design
Weighing in at 2.23 kg, the Samsung Galaxy View 2 is a substantial device, not designed for on-the-go portability. The plastic build, though not premium, feels solid, and the redesigned kickstand improves typing convenience on flat surfaces.
However, the included case doesn't perfectly fit, making it a bit cumbersome to carry.
Display and Audio
The tablet boasts a bright 17.3-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. While the display quality is good, the limited viewing angles might disappoint some users.
The standout feature, though, is the quad stereo speakers enhanced with Dolby Atmos, providing an immersive audio experience, particularly for video content.
Performance and Battery Life
Powered by the Exynos 7884 chipset and 3 GB RAM, the Galaxy View 2 delivers a decent performance for its intended usage.
The device is not geared towards high-end gaming but excels in media consumption and light gaming. The 12,000mAh battery is a game-changer, offering over three times the battery life compared to its predecessor.
User Experience
Running on Android 8.1, the tablet comes pre-loaded with AT&T bloatware, which, unfortunately, cannot be fully uninstalled. The interface is responsive, but occasional lag may be experienced.
Swiping into TV mode activates a user-configurable app – in this case, YouTube – making it a seamless transition for media consumption.
Verdict
If you're in the market for a giant Android entertainment tablet, the Samsung Galaxy View 2 stands out. It excels in delivering a cinematic experience with its massive display and powerful speakers.
While not a device for high-end gaming or productivity, it fulfills its niche for media enthusiasts who prioritize immersive content consumption. However, at a price point of $740, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, especially considering its limitations.
