How to Add and Remove the Paid Partnership Label on Instagram
Have you ever wondered how to add a Paid Partnership label to your Instagram posts, reels, and stories? Instagram has created this tool to differentiate paid/sponsored content from regular posts. Switch to a Creator or Business Profile
Before you can add the Paid Partnership label, you need to switch to a Creator or Business account on Instagram. If you already have a creator or business account, skip to the next section. Otherwise, here's how to switch:
- Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap on the hamburger menu (three lines).
- Tap on Settings.
- Tap on Account.
- Scroll down and tap on Switch to professional account.
- Tap on Continue.
- Choose a profession for your account and tap on Done.
- Choose either Creator or Business and tap on Next.
- Tap on Next to finish the process.
Add Paid Partnership Label to a New Story/Post/Reel
Once you have a Creator or Business account, adding the Paid Partnership label is simple. Here's how to do it for new content:
Story
- Open Instagram and tap on + Your story.
- Select a photo or video for the story.
- Tap on the tagging icon.
- Enable the toggle for Add paid partnership label.
- Tap on Add Brand Partners.
- Type the username of the brand/person you want to tag and tap Add.
- Tap on Continue.
- Tap on Done.
- Tap on Done again to post the story with the Paid Partnership label.
Post
- Open Instagram and tap on the New Post button.
- Select a photo and tap on Next.
- Tap on Next again.
- Scroll down and tap on Advanced Settings.
- Enable the toggle for Add paid partnership label.
- Tap on Add Brand Partners.
- Type the username of the brand/person and tap Add.
- Tap on Next to proceed.
- Tap on Done.
- Tap on Share to publish the post with the Paid Partnership label.
Reel
- Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap on the + (add new) button.
- Select Reel.
- Tap on the media selector to expand it.
- Choose a video to upload as a Reel.
- Tap on Add.
- Tap on Next to proceed.
- Scroll down and tap on Advanced settings.
- Enable the toggle for Add paid partnership label.
Add Paid Partnership Label to a Previously Posted Story/Post/Reel
If you forgot to add the Paid Partnership label to a previous post or story, don't worry. You can still add it afterward. Here's how:
Story
- Open Instagram and tap on Your story.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Add paid partnership label.
- Enable the toggle for Add paid partnership label.
- Tap on Brand partners.
- Type the username of the brand/person and tap Add.
- Tap on Next.
- Tap on Done.
Post
- Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap on the post to which you want to add the Paid Partnership label.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit.
- Tap on Add Paid Partnership Label.
- Enable the Add paid partnership label toggle.
- Tap on Add Brand Partners.
- Type the username of the brand/person and tap Add.
- Tap on Next.
- Tap on Done.
Reel
- Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap on the Reel to which you want to add the label.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit.
- Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
- Enable the Add paid partnership label toggle.
Remove Paid Partnership Label From a Story/Post/Reel
If you mistakenly added the Paid Partnership label to the wrong post or story, you can remove it. Here's how:
Story
Method 1 (Only Removing Brand Partner)
- Open Instagram and tap on Your story.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
- Tap on the x next to the brand/person to remove them.
- Tap on Done.
Method 2 (Completely Removing Paid Partnership Label)
- Open Instagram and tap on Your story.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
- Turn off the Add paid partnership label toggle.
- Tap on Done.
Post
Method 1 (Only Removing Brand Partner)
- Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap on the post to edit the Paid Partnership label.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit.
- Tap on the Paid partnership label.
- Tap on the x next to the brand/person to remove them.
- Tap on Done.
Method 2 (Completely Removing Paid Partnership Label)
- Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap on the post to edit the Paid Partnership label.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit.
- Tap on the Paid partnership label.
- Turn off the Add paid partnership label toggle.
- Tap on Done.
Reel
- Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap on the Reel to edit the Paid Partnership label.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Edit.
- Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
- Turn off the Add paid partnership label toggle.
Accept/Approve Someone's Paid Partnership Request
When you add someone as a brand partner, they receive a request to approve the Paid Partnership. Here's how to accept someone's request:
- Open Instagram and tap on the notifications icon.
- Tap on Monetisation & shops.
- Tap on the request approval notification.
- Tap on Approve.
Remove Yourself From Someone's Paid Partnership Label
If you don't want to associate with a previously tagged Paid Partnership post or story, you can remove yourself. Here's how:
- Open Instagram and tap on the notifications icon.
- Tap on Monetisation & shops.
- Tap on the notification.
- Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
- Tap on Remove me from paid partnership label.
- Tap on Remove.
