How to Add and Remove the Paid Partnership Label on Instagram

Have you ever wondered how to add a Paid Partnership label to your Instagram posts, reels, and stories? Instagram has created this tool to differentiate paid/sponsored content from regular posts. If you want to promote a product on your Instagram account, read on as I show you how to add and remove the Paid Partnership label.

Switch to a Creator or Business Profile

Before you can add the Paid Partnership label, you need to switch to a Creator or Business account on Instagram. If you already have a creator or business account, skip to the next section. Otherwise, here's how to switch:

  1. Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap on the hamburger menu (three lines).
  3. Tap on Settings.
  4. Tap on Account.
  5. Scroll down and tap on Switch to professional account.
  6. Tap on Continue.
  7. Choose a profession for your account and tap on Done.
  8. Choose either Creator or Business and tap on Next.
  9. Tap on Next to finish the process.

Add Paid Partnership Label to a New Story/Post/Reel

Once you have a Creator or Business account, adding the Paid Partnership label is simple. Here's how to do it for new content:

Story

  1. Open Instagram and tap on + Your story.
  2. Select a photo or video for the story.
  3. Tap on the tagging icon.
  4. Enable the toggle for Add paid partnership label.
  5. Tap on Add Brand Partners.
  6. Type the username of the brand/person you want to tag and tap Add.
  7. Tap on Continue.
  8. Tap on Done.
  9. Tap on Done again to post the story with the Paid Partnership label.

Post

  1. Open Instagram and tap on the New Post button.
  2. Select a photo and tap on Next.
  3. Tap on Next again.
  4. Scroll down and tap on Advanced Settings.
  5. Enable the toggle for Add paid partnership label.
  6. Tap on Add Brand Partners.
  7. Type the username of the brand/person and tap Add.
  8. Tap on Next to proceed.
  9. Tap on Done.
  10. Tap on Share to publish the post with the Paid Partnership label.

Reel

  1. Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap on the + (add new) button.
  3. Select Reel.
  4. Tap on the media selector to expand it.
  5. Choose a video to upload as a Reel.
  6. Tap on Add.
  7. Tap on Next to proceed.
  8. Scroll down and tap on Advanced settings.
  9. Enable the toggle for Add paid partnership label.

Add Paid Partnership Label to a Previously Posted Story/Post/Reel

If you forgot to add the Paid Partnership label to a previous post or story, don't worry. You can still add it afterward. Here's how:

Story

  1. Open Instagram and tap on Your story.
  2. Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
  3. Tap on Add paid partnership label.
  4. Enable the toggle for Add paid partnership label.
  5. Tap on Brand partners.
  6. Type the username of the brand/person and tap Add.
  7. Tap on Next.
  8. Tap on Done.

Post

  1. Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap on the post to which you want to add the Paid Partnership label.
  3. Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
  4. Tap on Edit.
  5. Tap on Add Paid Partnership Label.
  6. Enable the Add paid partnership label toggle.
  7. Tap on Add Brand Partners.
  8. Type the username of the brand/person and tap Add.
  9. Tap on Next.
  10. Tap on Done.

Reel

  1. Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap on the Reel to which you want to add the label.
  3. Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
  4. Tap on Edit.
  5. Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
  6. Enable the Add paid partnership label toggle.

Remove Paid Partnership Label From a Story/Post/Reel

If you mistakenly added the Paid Partnership label to the wrong post or story, you can remove it. Here's how:

Story

Method 1 (Only Removing Brand Partner)

  1. Open Instagram and tap on Your story.
  2. Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
  3. Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
  4. Tap on the x next to the brand/person to remove them.
  5. Tap on Done.

Method 2 (Completely Removing Paid Partnership Label)

  1. Open Instagram and tap on Your story.
  2. Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
  3. Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
  4. Turn off the Add paid partnership label toggle.
  5. Tap on Done.

Post

Method 1 (Only Removing Brand Partner)

  1. Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap on the post to edit the Paid Partnership label.
  3. Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
  4. Tap on Edit.
  5. Tap on the Paid partnership label.
  6. Tap on the x next to the brand/person to remove them.
  7. Tap on Done.

Method 2 (Completely Removing Paid Partnership Label)

  1. Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap on the post to edit the Paid Partnership label.
  3. Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
  4. Tap on Edit.
  5. Tap on the Paid partnership label.
  6. Turn off the Add paid partnership label toggle.
  7. Tap on Done.

Reel

  1. Open Instagram and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap on the Reel to edit the Paid Partnership label.
  3. Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
  4. Tap on Edit.
  5. Tap on Edit paid partnership label.
  6. Turn off the Add paid partnership label toggle.

Accept/Approve Someone's Paid Partnership Request

When you add someone as a brand partner, they receive a request to approve the Paid Partnership. Here's how to accept someone's request:

  1. Open Instagram and tap on the notifications icon.
  2. Tap on Monetisation & shops.
  3. Tap on the request approval notification.
  4. Tap on Approve.

Remove Yourself From Someone's Paid Partnership Label

If you don't want to associate with a previously tagged Paid Partnership post or story, you can remove yourself. Here's how:

  1. Open Instagram and tap on the notifications icon.
  2. Tap on Monetisation & shops.
  3. Tap on the notification.
  4. Tap on the kebab menu (three dots).
  5. Tap on Remove me from paid partnership label.
  6. Tap on Remove.
