The previous waterproof Kindle Oasis was announced on October 11, 2017.
What's new is first of all the adjustable screen color that can be changed from pure white to a warmer yellowish color in the night mode, with a 7-inch screen with 300ppi resolution, and otherwise 16-level gray scale Paperwhite display with 25 LEDs for front light.
The e-reader can be set to adjust to night mode at a particular hour, and the light sensor will automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the surroundings.
Of course, as a Kindle Oasis it can also read books out loud for you.
The new Kindle Oasis is still waterproof, with a solid IPX8 rating which protects it at depths down to 2 meters for up to 1 hour.
For a 7-inch handheld device it is very light, at a mere 188 grams. Storage options are 8GB for $249, or 32GB for $279. Color options are graphite or champagne gold.
Kindle Oasis battery life is still around 23 hours and the included charger or any other USB cable will charge it to 100% in 3 hours.
As an extra perk, those who pre-order the Kindle Oasis will now get 6 months worth of free Kindle Unlimited, so at least content on the Kindle Oasis for the next half year will be unlimited.
