Apple iPad 9.7″ 5th Gen: Detailed Specs
The 9.7-inch iPad, or iPad (5th Generation), was launched in early 2017. It was the most affordable full-size iPad Apple had ever released. This version featured many of the same internal parts as the iPhone 6s and had a case and screen similar to the original iPad Air.
The screen is not fully laminated and does not have an antireflective coating. However, it includes a “Touch ID” fingerprint sensor. The iPad is equipped with a dual-core 1.8 GHz Apple A9 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and comes with either 32 GB or 128 GB of flash memory storage.
It features two cameras: an 8 megapixel back “iSight” camera that can take still images and 1080p videos at 30 fps, and a 1.2 megapixel front “FaceTime HD” camera for still images and 720p video.
The device supports dual-channel 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO technology, which is compatible with earlier 802.11a/b/g/n standards, and Bluetooth 4.2.
The iPad has stereo speakers and uses a Lightning port for computer connections and charging.
The iPad (5th Gen) offers up to 10 hours of battery life for browsing the internet on Wi-Fi, watching videos, or listening to music.
The Wi-Fi Only model does not have 4G LTE or A-GPS support.
Although thicker, heavier, and featuring an older screen design than the iPad Air 2, this iPad (5th Gen) was marketed at a lower price.
