Huawei MediaPad M5 8.4 With Kirin 960 CPU, Android 8,0, And EMUI 8.0 Leaks After Certification
It's only been 4 days since the first leaks appeared on what was first thought to be the Huawei MediaPad M4, a tablet that would succeed the Huawei MediaPad M3. But after the first official Bluetooth certification filings have come online for the Huawei tablet model numbers SHT-W09 and SHT-AL09 today, it looks like the Huawei MediaPad M5 will instead replace the Huawei MediaPad M3.
(UPDATED: Huawei MediaPad M5 8.4 announced)
A potential Huawei MediaPad M4 model series might be reserved for a different line then, though this is just speculation on my part. Another possibility is that whoever at Huawei submitted the Bluetooth application managed to let a misspelling slip through. We'll see.
Officially though, Huawei MediaPad M5 is described in the papers filed as a 8.4-inch tablet carrying the model numbers SHT-W09 and SHT-AL09 for the Wi-Fi and cellular versions, and it's also officially leaked with running a Huawei Kirin 960 processor, the same CPU used in the pretty popular Huawei Mate 9.
Other official specs from the same papers includes Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi with ac support, and Android 8.0 Oreo + EMUI 8.0.0.
From the first leaks 4 days ago, the Huawei MediaPad M5 was also shown to feature the same 2560 x 1600 display resolution as the predecessor, so the new MediaPad M5 looks like a tablet to look forward to in 2018.
