Honor Pad 9 Leaked on 3C Certification, Tipped to Feature Snapdragon Gen 6, Large Battery
Honor appears to be working on the successor to the Honor Pad 8, expected to be called the Honor Pad 9. The upcoming tablet has now been spotted on China's 3C certification site, hinting at some key specifications.
According to a certification listing, a tablet with model number HEY-W09 will support 35W fast charging. This is believed to be the Honor Pad 9. The fast charging capability would be a significant upgrade from the 22.5W charging offered on last year's Honor Pad 8.
Noted Chinese tipster Wangzhai (旺仔百事通) claims the Honor Pad 9 will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset. This Qualcomm processor features an octa-core CPU based on a 4nm manufacturing process and Adreno 710 GPU. As per the tipster, the tablet will also pack a large battery, although its exact capacity is unclear.
If the leaks hold true, the Tab 9 would represent a considerable upgrade over its predecessor in terms of processor power and fast charging speeds.
Other expected upgrades include a higher resolution display. The Honor Pad 8 came with a 12-inch 2K LCD screen. More details regarding the Tab 9 are likely to surface in coming weeks. There is speculation the tablet could launch before the end of this month.
Honor recently spun off from parent company Huawei following US trade restrictions. The Tab 9 would be one of Honor's first major device launches as an independent brand. With competitive specifications and aggressive pricing, it could pose a strong challenge to rivals like Xiaomi and Realme in the budget tablet category.
