Garmin Unveils New MFDs With Faster Processor And 4K Touchscreens From 19 to 27 Inches
If you think the 14.6-inch waterproof tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is big, well then Garmin unveiled the GPSMAP 9000 series today, their newest maritime MFD chartplotters featuring 4K touchscreens from 19 inches to 27 inches wide.
Some older chartplotters have had a bit of lag when you've been trying to swipe the maps with your fingers, which can be a bit frustrating. So thankfully Garmin says that the new 9000 series has a 7 times faster CPU. Now that's what I call an upgrade.
The new 4K 3840 x 2160 resolution screen with IPX7 rating should also benefit anglers who can now see fish and sonar capture in 4K resolution too, when combined with a sonar module or transducer of course.
The wireless communication bandwidth between devices has also been improved with the Garmin BlueNet gigabit network onboard, that has networking speeds that are 10 times faster than before, and that includes not just information, but things like synching video entertainment too.
Other connectivity options includes 2x SD card slots, BNC and HDMI in ports, a HDMI out port, and 2x USB-C ports.
The new 9000 series has a wide range of integration options with other systems too, as well as anything from custom OEM for the homepage layout, to acting on voice commands.
The 19-inch, 22-inch, 24-inch, and 27-inch GPSMAP 9219, 9222, 9224 and 9227 MFDs are expected to launch in October from $10,000 to $16,000.
