In the original post, u/dvrkstar complained that the 60Hz refresh rate was a “glaringly obvious” flaw that made the tablet feel slow even when navigating the UI. They also found the tablet to be unsuitable for productivity purposes like using Workspace apps for work, noting the lack of accessories like a keyboard or stylus. Games were also described as “literally unplayable” due to the refresh rate.

The comments featured a range of perspectives. Many users chimed in agreeing the Pixel Tablet was designed as a causal media consumption device, not a productivity machine like an iPad Pro. As user u/mlemmers1234 pointed out, “It's intended use wasn't really to be a gaming powerhouse right from the start.” Others asked why OP purchased the tablet if they had done their research on its intended lightweight use case.

However, some sided with the OP's criticisms. User u/stevenseven2 argued the Pixel Tablet is overpriced for its middling specs: “it should be reflected in the price. It ought to be 40% cheaper than what it is today.” And u/dextroz called defenders of the tablet “brainwashed” and said it should cost no more than $350.

In contrast, many redditors showed enthusiasm for the Pixel Tablet. u/Amped_Up_562 enjoys theirs as a kitchen countertop display, while u/brandonsp111 uses it successfully for gaming. Others like its seamless integration with their Pixel phones and say it meets their needs as a media consumption and smart home controller device.

So while the Google Pixel Tablet has its happy customers, some early adopters on Reddit report significant disappointments—especially power users hoping for more robust capabilities. But its lighter-weight intended uses continue earning it positive feedback as well. The range of opinions suggests Google's first tablet entry has room for improvement but shows some promise nonetheless.
