8 Fixes to Resolve Contact Poster Issues on iPhone
Contact poster is a trendy feature of iOS 17 that allows users to create personalized digital contact cards. It’s a stylish way to introduce yourself with emojis, filters, different fonts, and monograms. However, some iPhone users have reported issues with contact posters not working on their devices. If you’re facing the same problem, here are some fixes to consider.
1. Check Compatibility
First and foremost, ensure that your iPhone is compatible with iOS 17. Contact posters are only available on iPhone XR and newer models running iOS 17 or higher. If you have an older iPhone model or an outdated iOS version, the contact poster feature won’t be available to you. To upgrade to iOS 17, go to Settings > General > Software Update and follow the instructions.
Once you have updated to iOS 17, open the Phone app and explore the customization options to create your own trendy digital contact poster. Keep in mind that contact posters will only appear on iPhones running iOS 17 or higher and won’t be visible on Android devices.
2. Send iMessage to Get Contact Poster
If you’re unable to see your friend’s contact poster on your iPhone, try sending them an iMessage. This simple trick has worked for many users and is worth a try. Follow these steps:
- Open the Messages app and tap on the compose button.
- Search for the contact you want to message.
- Compose and send an iMessage. If you see an option to update the contact, tap on it.
- iMessage will retrieve the latest contact poster from the contact. You can also access the contact menu by tapping on the contact name and selecting “info.”
- Tap on “Contact Photo & Poster” and select “Latest Photo.”
After following these steps, the contact poster should start working as expected.
3. Enable Name and Photo Sharing
To share your contact poster with your contacts on iPhone, you need to enable the Name & Photo Sharing option. If your friend’s contact poster still doesn’t appear on your iPhone, ask them to perform the same tweak. Here’s how you can enable Name & Photo Sharing:
- Open the Phone app and go to the Contacts tab.
- Select your own contact card.
- Tap on “Contact Photo & Poster.”
- Enable the “Name & Photo Sharing” toggle.
- You can also choose to share the post automatically with your contacts.
4. Enable Show My Caller ID
If you have disabled the Show My Caller ID option, your contact poster may fail to appear on your friend’s iPhone. To fix this, follow these steps:
- Open Settings and scroll to Phone.
- Select “Show My Caller ID.”
- Enable the option in the following menu.
5. Update and Save Contact Card
If your contact poster is still not working, try customizing your contact poster with minor tweaks and save it again. Follow these steps:
- Open the Phone app and go to the Contacts tab.
- Select your contact card and tap on “Contact Photo & Poster.”
- Tap on “Edit” and select “Customize.”
- Choose whether to edit the Contact Photo or Poster.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to make small tweaks and save the changes.
Try calling one of your friends to see if the contact poster now appears on their phone. If the issue persists, continue reading.
6. Recreate Contact Card
If none of the previous fixes have resolved the issue, you can try deleting your contact card and creating a new one from scratch. Here’s how:
- Go to the Contact Photo or Poster menu in the Phone app.
- Tap on “Edit” and swipe up on your contact card to delete it.
- Select “+” to create a new contact poster.
7. Update Third-Party Apps
Contact posters also work with third-party apps like WhatsApp and Skype. Make sure you have the latest version of these apps installed from the App Store. Updating the apps may resolve any compatibility issues.
8. Reset iPhone
If contact posters still fail to work on your iPhone, you can try resetting your device. Before proceeding, make sure to back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer. Follow these steps:
- Open Settings and scroll to General.
- Select “Transfer or Reset iPhone” and tap on “Erase All Content and Settings.”
- Follow the on-screen instructions to delete all data on your device.
- You can restore the backup file during the iOS startup process.
By following these fixes, you should be able to troubleshoot the contact poster issue on your iPhone. Don’t worry if the problem persists. Apple continues to improve contact posters with each new iOS update, and we look forward to seeing further enhancements in the future.
