6.8-Inch AMOLED Gaming Tablet Razer Edge (2023) Launched
Wow, it's been 9 years already since Razer launched their first gaming tablet called Razer Edge and Razer Edge Pro, both of which were 10.1-inch Windows tablets with gaming controllers on the sides and had the power of Intel Core i5 and i7 processors respectively.
But this weekend Razer finally announced the second Razer Edge, only this time around it's a 6.8-inch tablet with Android, or handheld as this gaming category is also called.
There will be 3 editions of the new Razer Edge. These are the Razer Edge Wi-Fi for $399, the Razer Edge Founders Edition with a larger bundle for $499, and the Razer Edge 5G from Verizon that will launch on January 26, though they all share the same specs, apart from the the 5G connectivity:
But, what are we looking at? Since it's a gaming device from Razer, we should expect more than just mediocre specs. And it seems Razer found good compromise between price and specs with the new Razer Edge.
It's the only device to launch with a customized 3.0 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chipset, so that alone is appealing to a lot of people in this customer group. Further on it has 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage with 2TB microSD card support.
And then it's the screen, where Razer didn't skimp but went for a 6.8-inch 2400 x 1080 resolution AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate. So that should be plentiful on a 6.8-inch tablet if you ask me.
As a primary gaming tablet it has fast Wi-Fi of course, with dual-band Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB C port, while the 5G model has Sub 6 connectivity and Global LTE too.
And while some handheld gaming devices lack cameras, the new Razer Edge has a 5MP front camera with 1080P at 60fps which is useful for in-game chats.
It also has stereo speakers, a 5000 mAh battery capacity, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack. The weight is pretty low for such a high specs tablet, as the weight is 264 grams, though the thickness is 11mm.
The controllers are detachable, so it can be used as just a tablet too.
It's pretty obvious that this tablet will be on a lot of people's wish list for Christmas, though we still have to wait for the launch of it, since it's barely even taking pre-orders at the moment, and at this point Razer is asking for hardcore gamers to test the tablet first.
But it could become the most popular gaming tablet since the Nvidia Shield tablet once it's released.
