Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro with 144Hz Display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Tipped for Global Launch
Xiaomi is reportedly planning to launch its upcoming premium tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro, globally later this year.
According to extensive leaks from Xiaomi's own code, the Pad 7 Pro will be a major upgrade over last year's Pad 6 Pro model and Xiaomi's first Pro tablet to be offered outside of China.
The Pad 7 Pro is codenamed “Sheng” and carries the model number N81A. It will feature a 10-inch LCD display made by Tianma that offers a sharp resolution of 1480 x 2367 pixels and an extremely fluid 144Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals.
Powering the tablet is said to be Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, giving it a considerable boost in performance over the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in the predecessor. The new processor will transform the Pad 7 Pro into a productivity and creative workhorse.
On the back, dual cameras including a main sensor and depth sensor will enable portrait shots with bokeh effects. The front-facing camera also gets upgraded for better video calls. A quad speaker setup with Dolby audio aims to deliver immersive entertainment.
The Pad 7 Pro ships with MIUI 14 based on Android 14 out of the box. It packs a large battery with support for blazing 120W fast charging, allowing it to recharge from 0 to 100% in around an hour.
Xiaomi plans to unveil the Pad 7 Pro alongside its upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra phone flagship in April 2024. The tablet will initially launch in China, but leaks confirm Xiaomi is already testing a global version internally.
The standard Xiaomi Pad 7 model with toned down specs will make its way overseas first. But consumers outside of China can expect to get their hands on the feature-packed Pad 7 Pro later in 2024, marking the first time Xiaomi has released its top-tier tablet internationally.
With its cutting-edge display, powerful processor and productivity focus, it promises to be a compelling flagship iPad alternative for buyers worldwide.
Tech enthusiasts will be keeping an eager eye out for more tidbits leading up to the rumored April debut in China. The global launch date remains a mystery for now, but the Pad 7 Pro is absolutely one to watch as Xiaomi's tablet lineup continues evolving in 2024.
