Unleash the Full Potential of Your iPhone Xs Max: Tips and Tricks
Your new iPhone Xs Max is a powerhouse of features, but are you really making the most of it? In this article, we will explore some hidden tips and tricks that will take your iPhone experience to the next level. Whether you're a seasoned iPhone user or a newcomer to the Xs Max, these tips are sure to impress.
Home Button is Back
If you miss the familiar feel of the Home Button, don't worry, there's a way to bring it back. AssistiveTouch is your key to unlocking this feature. Simply go to Settings > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch and activate it. You can even customize the actions for single-tap, double-tap, long press, and 3D Touch. Adjust the AssistiveTouch icon to the center position on the app dock for a better visual experience. It's like having the best of both worlds.
Two-Face IDs
With Face ID, you can register two different looks, allowing another person to access your phone. Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and tap on ‘Set up an Alternative Appearance'. Follow the on-screen instructions, and you'll have a secondary Face ID registered in no time. Remember, to delete one appearance, you'll have to reset the Face ID and start the process again.
Face ID Attention Features
To add an extra layer of security, you can activate the ‘attention feature' in the Face ID settings. This feature ensures that your iPhone only unlocks when you are paying attention to the screen. You can also enable the ‘Attention-Aware' feature, which adjusts the display and alert volume based on whether or not you are looking at your screen.
Reachability Gesture
If you're used to the reachability feature on larger iPhones, you'll be pleased to know that it's still possible on the Xs Max. Activate it by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reachability. Now, simply slide down the app dock from any point on the screen and tap anywhere else to disable it. Just remember to slide the app dock, or you might trigger the spotlight search.
Split View
Make the most of the Xs Max's large display by using the split view feature in landscape mode. While not all apps support this feature, popular apps like iMessage, Mail, Notes, and Files do. To enable this feature, go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Display Zoom > View, and select the Standard option.
3D Touch App Icons for Quick Actions
Extend the power of 3D Touch to the home screen. Simply press and hold on an app icon to reveal a quick action menu. Each app will have its own set of quick actions, such as recent destinations for Uber or favorite chat links for messaging apps. You can toggle 3D Touch on/off in Settings > General > Accessibility > 3D Touch.
Manual HDR in the Camera App
By default, Smart HDR is enabled on your iPhone, which means there is no HDR button in the camera app. However, you can change this by going to Settings > Camera > Smart HDR and turning it off. This will give you manual control over HDR in the camera app.
Download Memoji
The TrueDepth camera on the iPhone X series introduced fun features like Animoji and Memoji. You can now save and use these creations in other apps too. While on the Memoji screen in the iMessage app, tap on the ‘Markup' option. From there, tap on ‘Save' to save your Memoji. It's a simple trick that lets you unleash your creativity.
Edit Focus on a Portrait Shot
If a portrait shot doesn't turn out as expected, don't worry. You can adjust the depth and focus of the image even after it's taken. Open the photo in the Photos app, tap on ‘Edit', and you'll see a focus adjust bar. Slide it left or right to find the perfect balance and save your image.
Makes Videos Fill Your Screen
With the upcoming iOS 13 update, you'll be able to make your videos fill the entire screen of your XR, XS, or X. Currently, these phones have a slightly taller aspect ratio, resulting in black bars on the sides of videos. In iOS 13, open the Photos app, select the video, tap on ‘Edit', and choose the Crop tool. Adjust the height of the crop box to remove the black bars and save the changes.
Now that you know these hidden tips and tricks, go ahead and explore the full potential of your iPhone Xs Max. From bringing back the Home Button to mastering the camera app, these tips will enhance your iPhone experience like never before. Enjoy!
