Samsung Guarantees A Minimum Of 4 Years Of Security Updates For Tablets

In August last year, Samsung announced its commitment to update Android tablets for a minimum of three OS generations. And this week Samsung promised even extended commitment to a minimum of 4 years of security updates for all Galaxy devices, tablets and phones.

The first Samsung tablets that will be eligible for at least 4 years of security updates are tablets that have been launched since 2019. These includes the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8 (2019), Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020), Samsung Galaxy Tab A7, Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+, and Samsung's two rugged tablets Samsung Galaxy Tab Active Pro and Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3.

Specifically, Samsung said that security updates will be delivered on a monthly or quarterly basis, and that they've worked with more than 200 wireless carriers internationally to ensure that security patches will be sure to reach the devices bought through wireless carriers, even if a 4G or 5G tablet is locked to the carrier.
