Reviews

User Reviews 1 User Reviews Overall I found the tablet easy to set up with a straightforward interface, and the price and expandable storage seem to be its main benefits. I would recommend downloading additional apps rather than using too many of the preloaded ones to prevent slowing the tablet over time.
- Tech & Design
User Reviews 2 I found the performance fairly smooth after installing a custom launcher, though the hardware is basically bottom of the barrel. The standout software feature is multi-window for split-screen app multitasking.
- AcidTech
User Reviews 3 The durable case and long battery life also make it practical for everyday use by kids. While not a powerful high-performance tablet, the Galaxy Tab E Lite serves well as a starter tablet and educational tool for children.
- SmartPick
Tabletmonkeys Reviews Tabletmonkeys Reviews Pros:
- Decent basic specs for the price (quad core processor, 1GB RAM)
- Expandable storage up to 32GB with microSD card
- Long battery life - up to 9 hours internet use
Cons:
- Low screen resolution (1024 x 600)
- Low quality camera (2MP)
- Underpowered hardware

Our Rating

4.3
  • Performance 4 / 10
  • Display 2 / 10
  • Battery 8 / 10
  • Design 3 / 10

Samsung recently released the Galaxy Tab E Lite, a new 7-inch Android tablet aimed at budget-conscious consumers.

This affordable device packs decent specs including a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage expandable up to 32GB.

It offers solid performance for basic tasks, although the low-resolution screen and poor camera quality reflect some compromises.

Running Android 4.4 KitKat, the Tab E Lite provides smooth operation when web browsing, streaming video, or using simple apps.

The quad-core 1.3GHz processor and 1GB of RAM deliver adequate speed for everyday functions.

Switching between apps feels fast enough for casual use. While not a powerhouse, the tablet handles kid games and educational apps easily.

The 7-inch screen features an unimpressive 1024 x 600 resolution, but it suffices for basic usage.

Visuals lack sharpness yet remain usable for reading, web surfing, or YouTube.

Battery life reaches up to 9 hours of internet use, letting kids play throughout the day. Though mediocre, the display quality balances the low cost.

An underwhelming 2MP rear camera captures blurry, pixelated images and video.

It works in a pinch but pales in comparison to tablet cameras costing just $100 more.

The plastic construction feels hollow and cheap. Nonetheless, parents seeking an affordable starter tablet should consider the Tab E Lite.

Running a lightweight version of Android, the interface looks dated but simple enough for technophobic users.

Setting up the device takes minutes with user-friendly prompts guiding the way.

A kid-friendly interface and over 20 preloaded apps cater directly to children. A free 3-month Samsung Kids subscription provides access to more fun content.

While no power tablet, the Galaxy Tab E Lite serves its purpose as an ultra-affordable option for first-time tablet owners.

Parents wanting an inexpensive way to occupy kids should take note.

Buyers sacrifice camera, display and build quality yet gain capable hardware for enjoying apps, games, videos, ebooks and more.

The ability to add a microSD card helps offset the limited 8GB internal storage too.

In the world of budget tablets, the Galaxy Tab E Lite hits a sweet spot combining decent speed and battery life with an incredibly low cost.

New tablet shoppers prioritizing price first should short-list this offering from Samsung.

Just anticipate mild sluggishness when pushing the tablet too hard given the basic processor and RAM.

For simple daily use, web browsing and kid-friendly functions, the Galaxy Tab E Lite gets the job done on the cheap.
