Maxwest enters the budget tablet market with its new ORBIT 8QC. This is an 8-inch Android tablet focused on core functions rather than flashy features.

Priced low, the ORBIT 8QC sports middling specs throughout. Highlights include the ample 8-inch display, quad-core processor, and microSD storage expansion.

But its 768×1024 resolution screen looks pixelated. And the dated Android 4.1 OS disappoints.

The plastic construction feels decently solid though uninspiring in aesthetics. At 0.37 inches thickness, it’s portable enough for around the house. Expect to regularly charge its unspecified battery capacity.

Processing power comes courtesy of a 1.3GHz quad-core chip. Performance handles daily media usage alright but can’t match pricier tablets. You also get an ample 1GB RAM and somewhat small 8GB internal storage.

Thankfully, a microSD card slot lets you grow the limited built-in memory up to 32GB extra. Document life through photos and 720p video using the basic rear camera. Just don't anticipate fantastic image quality from this budget sensor, especially without a flash.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS support, and an HDMI video output. Transfer media or power up via the Micro USB port. Listen to audio through wired headphones or the single loudspeaker.

Ultimately the appeal lies in the low asking price. The ORBIT 8QC brings respectable screen real estate at wallet-friendly pricing.
