Reviews

User Reviews 1 User Reviews I admit that it is unusual that the Smart Tab is an Android tablet but transforms into an Alexa-powered smart display instead of Google-powered one. I had to login with two different credentials - one for Google and one for Amazon. When docked, it only responds to Alexa and when undocked, it only responds to OK Google. This can be confusing.

I have the P10 model for review. I think it has a premium feel with glass on both sides. It has four Dolby Atmos speakers and an 8MP rear camera which I like. The display has gorgeous colors and rich sharp detail that brings photos and videos to life.

User Reviews 2 I discovered the Lenovo Smart Tab P10 is the winner of the 2019 Best of Innovation Award. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4GB RAM and up to 256GB microSD card support.
I learned it has a full HD display that is stunning and captivating. It has four front Dolby Atmos speakers. It runs the latest Android 8 operating system and has a fingerprint sensor.

User Reviews 3 I found the tablet has a nice premium look and feel thanks to the glass front and back. However, this makes it seem a bit fragile for everyday use. The screen is bright and colorful, and it handles games well without any performance problems. Connectivity was hit or miss - the WiFi connection, especially on the 5GHz band, was spotty even when close to the router.
The four speakers were a disappointment, not producing the sound I expected. Putting the tablet on the included dock tremendously improved the audio quality. The dock itself is basic but the speakers shine when watching movies or listening to music.

Cons:
- Seems fragile for everyday use
- WiFi connection spotty, especially on 5GHz band
- Tablet speakers are disappointing

Our Rating

The overall rating is based on review by our dedicated team and users.

8
  • Performance 7 / 10
  • Display 9 / 10
  • Battery 8 / 10
  • Design 8 / 10

Lenovo has taken an unusual approach with the Smart Tab P10, turning it into an Android tablet that transforms into an Alexa-powered smart display, rather than the more common Google-powered variant.

However, this unique feature introduces a bit of confusion for users, as it requires separate login credentials for both Google and Amazon services.

Premium Look and Feel

The Smart Tab P10 sports an elegant glass design on both front and back sides for a sleek, high-end aesthetic. However, this premium material also raises fragility concerns for regular handling.

At 15.52 ounces, it strikes a lightweight and comfortable balance for a 10-inch tablet form factor.

Vibrant 10-Inch Display

A sharp 10.1-inch IPS LCD screen pops with a vivid 1200 x 1920 pixel resolution, doing justice to photos and videos. The display churns out gorgeous colors and crisp details for immersive streaming and gameplay.

Large bezels detract from the overall screen real estate however.

Respectable Performance

An octa-core Snapdragon 450 chipset and 4GB RAM power smooth operation for daily tasks. Users can store plentiful apps and media with 64GB onboard capacity and up to 256GB expandable storage.

Gaming performance falters slightly with occasional lag during graphics-heavy titles.

Wi-Fi Connectivity Falls Short

While packing the latest Wi-Fi standards, connectivity proves spotty in practice. Maintaining 5GHz signals presented difficulty even in close router proximity.

This impedes download speeds and online gameplay. LTE options do not appear available currently.

Tablet Speakers Underwhelm

Four top and bottom speakers outfitted with Dolby Atmos fail to deliver decent audio quality. Music and videos sound disappointingly flat for such touted components. Volume reaches sufficiently loud levels but lacks richness.

Smart Dock Massively Boosts Sound

The packaged dock tremendously bolsters sound performance via two 3-watt tweeters. Activating the Alexa smart display setting while docked treats owners to punchy, room-filling audio.

This creates a far superior media experience for movies and music versus the tablet itself.

Intuitive Software and Alexa Integration

Android 8.1 provides a smooth, intuitive software experience. Unique to this hybrid tablet is its ability to directly open apps through Alexa voice commands when docked.

For example, saying “Alexa open YouTube” actually launches the YouTube application instead of merely showing web search results. This helps bridge both tablet and smart display functionalities.

Early Growing Pains

As an emerging product category, the Lenovo Smart Tab does not yet enable certain expected smart features like Alexa video calling. Lenovo promises these capabilities down the road through software updates.

Users may also find the fragmented Google tablet versus Amazon smart display system confusing to navigate.

Strong Bang for Buck

The Lenovo Smart Tab P10 supplies great value for those seeking both portable on-the-go tablet functionality combined with at-home smart display features.

The high-end glass construction, vibrant screen, speedy performance, and booming dock audio all outshine the price point. Weak spots like Wi-Fi connectivity and speaker quality do not seriously detract from enjoyment given the overall affordability.

In summary, the pioneering Lenovo Smart Tab P10 strikes an appetizing balance of mobility and versatility. Consumers benefit from respectable tablet capabilities complemented by the far-field voice control smarts of Alexa via a bundled dock.

Interested buyers should weigh connectivity concerns but will discover excellent corner-cutting bang for their buck with this pioneering hybrid.
