I found the rumored addition of the M1 chip to the new iPad Air impressive. This dramatically increases the processing power to an even more impressive level, especially for the price point. In real world use, I don't have an especially demanding workflow on my iPad so I didn't notice a big experiential difference between the M1 Air and my iPad Pro. But the M1 ensures the Air will stay very responsive and capable for years. Editing photos and playing games were extremely fast. Basic tasks like email and web browsing also felt snappier. - Engadget |

I was surprised Apple put the powerful M1 chip from their MacBooks and iPad Pros into the new iPad Air without raising the price. The new colors this year are more vibrant; I love the new blue. The cellular model now supports 5G, but not the fastest mmWave 5G. Many aspects are unchanged from last year's model though, like the design, display, camera hardware and battery life. Games like Genshin Impact and Pokémon Unite run flawlessly at high frame rates. However, the 60Hz display causes some visual latency when drawing despite the fast performance. - Dave2D |
