Expanding beyond smartphones, budget-friendly device maker Alcatel recently unveiled its first tablet – the 7-inch One Touch T10. This no-frills Android slate targets consumers seeking core functionality at a wallet-friendly $130 price point.

The One Touch T10 won't turn any heads with its plain plastic build and thicker 0.44-inch profile measuring 7.56 x 4.63 x 0.44 inches. But its 11.99 ounce weight feels pleasingly lightweight for comfortable handling. Buyers choose between black or silver color options.

Alcatel outfits the T10 with a 7-inch LCD TFT display sporting rather basic 800 x 480 resolution at 133 pixels per inch. While image quality falls short of 1080p flagship tablets, the screen should prove adequate for everyday media consumption and casual games.

On the inside, Alcatel utilizes a modest single-core 1GHz Cortex A8 processor alongside 1GB of RAM. This basic silicon may struggle driving intense 3D games or heavy multitasking.

But the T10 should handle typical tablet workloads like video, web browsing, ebooks, and social media respectably well.

For your storage needs, the One Touch T10 provides 4GB of onboard capacity plus microSD expansion up to 32GB. A 3000mAh battery delivers enough juice for reasonable up time between charges. Cameras remain sparse with only a basic 0.3MP module up front.

The Alcatel tablet runs dated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich lacking Jelly Bean polish. Connectivity checks all key boxes including WiFi, micro USB and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Make no mistake – buyers wanting a sleek look, sharp display or speedy performance should look elsewhere. But sub-$150 tablets typically cut serious corners that Alcatel mostly avoids.

Early reviews praise the One Touch T10′s smooth touch responsiveness when navigating Google's operating system. The display offers perfectly fine color and clarity for casual media enjoyment.

MicroSD expansion grants welcome file flexibility. And the lightweight build facilitates easy one-handed operation.

Buyers want snappy performance or premium build quality will need to spend bigger bucks. But the T10 rates as a respectable starter slate given its no-nonsense sub-$150 pricing.
