New 2023 Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet Launched Today

Amazon launched the new 2023 model Amazon Fire HD 10 today on September 20, which is their new 10.1-inch tablet with Full HD resolution: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHZT5S1

And best of all, despite upgraded specs, Amazon has managed to cut the price from $149 to $139. It's taking pre-orders before it starts shipping while the release date is set to October 18.

The predecessor was launched on April 27, 2021, so the former model has been around for a while, when we count in “tablet years.”

So let's have a close look at what's changed with the new Amazon Fire HD 10.

It still has that good 10.1-inch Full HD screen, with a 1920 x 1200 display resolution and 224 ppi, as well as Widevine L1 support. But it now even has stylus support for the first time.

And the chipset is changed so the overall performance is up over 30% when I look at the all new specs, which is in line with what Amazon states too.

The new octa-core 2.0 GHz MediaTek processor is also more effective, though though it still has just 3GB RAM (as Amazon has discontinued the Fire HD 10 Plus) with storage options of 32GB and 64GB, as well as a microSD card support up to 1TB. Not to mention Amazon's free cloud storage for some of your things.

The operating system is Amazon's Android 11 based Fire OS 8, which gives users access to the vast Amazon ecosystem of apps, games, features, 24/7 live help services, movies, TV-shows, books, music, magazines, and easy access to all sorts of smart devices, including optional voice commands for Alexa.

It's now compatible with a stylus pen for the first time, and continue to feature an optional keyboard, so it can be used for a lot of work and productivity as a small laptop.

The stylus pen is the same “Made for Amazon Stylus Pen” that was originally launched alongside the larger Fire Max 11.

For internet connectivity, it has dual-band a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.3 LE.

Ports for cables and accessories on the new Fire HD 10 are a USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio combo jack for headsets, external speakers, or external mics.

The tablet cameras have been upgraded to a 5MP camera on the front and a 5MP camera on the back of the tablet, so people can make video conferences and video chats in Full HD resolution. It also has a single microphone.

Audio is delivered by the stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, while tablet sensors includes accelerometer and light sensor so it can be used for gaming and apps.

The battery life continues to be great, with a 13 hour battery life (based on the local video playback standard), and a 4 hour charging time to a full charge with the included 9W charger. This charging time can be reduced to 3 hours with a more powerful 15W charger though.

Amazon's Fire tablets are always well built and solid, which explains why so many are around after many years of use. So it's interesting that even with the upgraded specs, the weight has gone down to 433 grams, while sporting a thickness of 8.6mm. The color options are now black, Ocean blue, and Lilac purple.

I like the fact that the new Fire HD 10 has become cheaper during the same time that it's been upgraded, while it has also introduced stylus support, and an updated OS which makes it faster as well.

At this price point, this is a very tempting tablet that is very versatile for so many uses.

That usually makes for a bestseller. Especially when it launches at the start of the Christmas gift season too.
