It was actually announced at CES earlier in 2023 and many people have been waiting since then for something as rare as a 9-inch tablet computer.
The Lenovo Tab M9 is an okay entry level sort of tablet, featuring a 9-inch screen with a HD display resolution of 1340 x 800, and a max screen brightness of 400 nits.
Power comes from an octa-core MediaTek ‘Helio G80' MT8786V/N processor at up to 2.0 GHz, in combination with an ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, 3GB LPDDR4x RAM, and 32GB eMMC 5.1 storage, with additional support for microSD cards up to 2TB in exFAT format, or 128GB in FAT32.
Lenovo Tab M9 has got some features other tablets in the more pocket sized categories usually lack, such as facial recognition for securely logging on the tablet easily.
There's a 2MP f/2.2 front camera for video calls and a well designed 8MP f/2.2 rear camera, as well as a mic, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
A benefit of a smaller tablet screen is improved battery life, so even the 5100 mAh battery size has a rated 13 hour battery life, based on the local video playback standard. It's delivered with a 2A power adapter.
This G80 chipset has a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi 5 support, as well as Bluetooth 5.1, a USB C 2.0 port with Power Delivery 3.0 and 15W support, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, and the tablet sensors accelerometer, ambient light sensor, coulomb sensor, hall sensor, and even a ERM vibrator for vibrating alerts, feedback on touch, gaming vibrations and so on.
It's also well equipped with GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo navigation sensors for use with maps and other location based apps or services.
The Lenovo Tab M9 that's launching now is the Arctic Grey model, which despite the metal back cover still only weighs 344 grams. The thickness is 7.99mm.
Upon release it has Android 12 installed, but I've already seen Android 13 being tested on it, and according to Lenovo's update scheduled, the Android 13 update will start rolling out on June 30.
