The Next iPad Pro 11 And 12.9 Will Get OLED Displays – Launch In 2024

With the unveiling of the latest iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 two weeks ago, both of which were released on Wednesday, some user groups have complained that Apple didn’t upgrade the displays.

It should be mentioned that Apple already have their best tablet displays on the iPad Pro 11 with a LED Liquid Retina display featuring a resolution of 2388 x 1688, and a mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display on the iPad Pro 12.9 featuring a resolution of 2732 x 2048.

The typical complaints are either that the 11-inch model should have been upgraded to the same mini-LED display that the 12.9-inch model has, or that both models should have swapped or upgraded to OLED displays.

Both alternative solutions would have brought up the price of the iPad Pro 11 for sure, so that’s one reason. But the reason why the iPad Pro 12.9 has the type of mini-LED display seems to be very complex if you start to look into the most eager user group for that particular iPad.

OLED iPads coming, eventually

Yet at the same time, ever since Apple launched the iPad Pro 12.9 with a mini-LED display last year, it has been expected based upon reliable insider information that Apple would actually swap to OLED displays for both models after two generations.

Display analyst Ross Young reiterated after the launch of the iPad Pros that the next 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros, which will launch in 2024 will get OLED displays.

So I can see why many owners and potential owners of an iPad Pro are confused about this issue.

One guess was that Apple could maintain one mini-LED version of the iPad Pro for those who works professionally with graphics, while still offering OLED versions for the rest.

Waiting until 2024 to buy an iPad Pro OLED is a very long wait. So for buyers who really want one of the superfast iPad Pros that just launched, buying one today and simply trading it in before the launch of the new iPad Pros in 1 1/2 year from now is one solution.

The trade in value of the iPad Pro is among the highest obviously, because it has such high specs to begin with. You can test the trade-in value of any iPad on Amazon to see what the difference is, and the value seems to be pretty good.
