The new and improved Apple “iPad mini retina” or iPad Mini 2 was finally released today, Tuesday November 12, and is taking orders online.
The release came 12 days after the November 1 release of the larger iPad Air, now the 5th generation iPad.
All the various models are being released today, with color options being gray or silver. The original iPad mini will remain in production, and will be sold alongside the iPad mini 2, but at a discount, down from $329 to $299.
The 16GB entry model of iPad mini 2 (Wi-Fi) begins at $399, and ends at $699 with the 128GB model. While the Wi-Fi + Cellular models begins at $529 with 16GB and goes all the way up to $829 for the 128GB storage model.
Apple offers contracts on the Apple iPad mini 2 together with all the four major cellular carriers AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon Wireless in the online Apple Store.
Another nice feature is that buying from Apple Store also includes optional free engraving on the back of an iPad mini retina or any other iPad, with whatever message you want.
