When Google launched YouTube Music, many users were disappointed to find that there was no way to comment on songs or music videos. However, Google has now started rolling out an update that allows users to leave comments on YouTube Music. If you're eager to join the conversation, here's how you can do it.

Before we get into the details, it's important to note that this update is being rolled out gradually, so not everyone may have access to it just yet. If you don't see the option to leave comments, don't worry – it should be available to you in the coming weeks. To ensure you have the latest features, make sure to update your YouTube Music app to the latest version.

Leave a Comment on YouTube Music

To leave a comment on a song or music video in YouTube Music, follow these steps:

  1. Open the YouTube Music app on your phone and play a song.
  2. Look for the comments icon in the center of the player and tap on it.
  3. A comments window will open over the player. Tap on the box that says “Add a comment…” at the bottom of the window. The keyboard should appear once you tap on it.
  4. Write your comment in the box and tap the send icon. Please remember to adhere to YouTube's Community Guidelines while posting your comment.

Your comment will be posted instantly and will appear on the currently playing song or music video.

Reply to a Comment on YouTube Music

If you want to reply to an existing comment, follow these steps:

  1. Look for the comments icon below the comment you want to reply to and tap on it.
  2. The comments reply window will appear with a box that says “Add a reply…” and your keyboard.
  3. Type your reply and tap the send icon to post it as a reply.

Comment With Time Stamp on YouTube Music

If you want to share a specific part of a song with others, you can do so by posting a comment with a timestamp. Here's how:

  1. Scrub to the specific time in the song that you want to share.
  2. Look for the timestamp icon in the comments box and tap on it.
  3. The timestamp of the current time in the song will be added to the comment box. Add your text beside the time and tap the send icon to post the comment with the timestamp.

Others can then click on the timestamp in your comment to skip directly to that point in the song or music video.

Edit a Comment on YouTube Music

Made a typo or want to edit your comment on YouTube Music? No problem. Follow these steps:

  1. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner of your comment.
  2. Tap on the Edit option.
  3. Make the necessary changes to your comment and tap the send icon to save the changes.

Your edited comment will be saved, and an “(edited)” mark will appear next to your profile name.

Delete a Comment on YouTube Music

If you want to delete a comment you've made, follow these steps:

  1. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner of your comment.
  2. Tap on Delete.
  3. Tap Delete again to confirm the deletion.

Once deleted, the comment will be permanently removed.

  1. Tap on the three dots to the top right of the violating comment.
  2. Tap on Report.

Arrange the Comments on YouTube Music

  3. By default, comments are arranged as “Top” (showing the top comments first). Tap on “Newest” to change the arrangement order, showing the newest comments first.
