How to Get “Screen Lock” on Prime Videos And YouTube
Netflix recently introduced a “screen lock” feature on its mobile app to prevent accidental pauses. But what if you want this feature on other streaming platforms like Prime Videos and YouTube? Don't worry, there's a solution!
Getting the “Screen Lock” on Prime Videos And YouTube
To get the “screen lock” feature on Prime Videos, YouTube, and other streaming services, you'll need to install a third-party app called “Touch Lock”. Once installed, open the app and grant the necessary permissions, such as “Display over other apps” and “Accessibility Service”. These permissions are required for the app to display the lock icon over the video screen and block touch input.
Once you've granted the permissions, the app takes care of the rest. It automatically detects when you're in a video streaming app and sends a notification to your notification drawer. Simply tap on the notification to activate the screen lock. A transparent lock icon will appear on the video screen, indicating that all touch inputs are disabled. When you want to resume normal touch operation, tap on the lock icon, enter the pattern, and the lock screen will be removed. The app also allows you to customize the transparency and size of the lock icon.
Additionally, the Touch Lock app offers a “Shake” gesture. Instead of tapping on the notification, you can shake your phone to lock the screen, and shake it again to unlock the screen.
It's important to note that the app claims to be able to block hardware triggers, but this feature may not work on all devices. For example, it didn't work on my Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Another drawback of the app is the occasional full-screen pop-ups, which display app usage statistics and encourage you to upgrade.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a similar app available for iOS. Apple doesn't allow apps to display over another app, so it's currently not possible to get the “screen lock” feature on iOS.
If you're specifically looking for a way to prevent your kids from tampering with your phone while watching videos, you can try using the screen pinning feature available on both Android and iOS.
In conclusion, with the help of the Touch Lock app, you can enjoy the convenience of the “screen lock” feature on streaming platforms other than Netflix. Install the app, grant the necessary permissions, and enjoy uninterrupted video streaming without the fear of accidental pauses.
