How to Easily Download Voice Messages on Instagram
The Instagram app does not provide a native option to download voice messages. However, there are simple workarounds to save Instagram voice messages on both the app and the web version. Let's explore these methods.
Using Chrome Extension (PC)
To download voice messages from Instagram using this method, follow these steps:
- Open the Chrome browser and install the “Download audio message Messenger/Instagram” extension. You can find it in the Chrome Web Store.
- Once installed, open the Instagram website and go to the chat containing the voice messages.
- Click on the Extensions icon in your browser and select “Download audio message Messenger/Instagram.”
- The voice message will appear, and you can click on the Download icon to save it on your PC.
Using Inspect Tool (PC)
If you prefer not to use an extension, you can download voice messages on Instagram using the Inspect tool in your browser. Here's how:
- Open the Instagram website on your PC and go to your inbox.
- Right-click in the inbox and select “Inspect.”
- Go to the Network tab and refresh the page. Wait for everything to load.
- Select the user from which you want to download a voice message in your inbox. Play the message and pause it.
- Go to the Media tab in the Inspect window, and you will find your voice message.
- Right-click on the voice message and select “Open in new tab.”
- You will either get a pop-up to download the Instagram voice message directly or the voice message media screen will show up. Right-click again and select “Save as.” Change the file extension to .mp3 or .mp4 format if needed.
Using Screen Recorder (Android and iPhone)
On Android and iPhone, you can record the screen while the audio message is playing and then extract the voice message from the recorded video. Follow these steps:
Record Screen on Android
If you have an Android device from Samsung, Google, OnePlus, etc., you already have a built-in screen recorder that also records audio. Otherwise, you can download a third-party screen recorder app from the Google Play Store. Here's how to record screen on Android using the native feature:
- Open the Instagram app and go to the chat with the voice message.
- Open the Quick Settings panel on your Android phone and select “Screen Record.”
- A pop-up will appear. Tap on “Record audio” and make sure “Device audio” is selected. Press the Start button.
- Play the audio message, and once you're done listening, stop the recording. The recording will be saved on your phone in video format.
Record Screen on iPhone
On an iPhone, you can use the built-in screen recording feature. Here's how:
- In the Instagram app on your iPhone, open the chat with the voice message.
- Open Control Center on your iPhone and long press on the Screen Recording icon. Tap on the Microphone to turn it on if necessary.
- Tap on “Start Recording” and play the audio message in the Instagram app. Stop the recording to save the video on your iPhone.
Finally, use a video to audio converter app to convert the recorded video to MP3 format.
However, while screen recording, make sure your voice messages are actually audible. If they are not, explore why the voice message is not playing on Instagram and then follow these steps.
