Bixby Routines: Automate Your Samsung Galaxy Device

Bixby, despite being disliked by many Samsung Galaxy users, actually has some really awesome features. One of these features is Bixby Routines. But what exactly are Bixby Routines, and how can you use them to make your life easier? In this guide, we'll explore everything you need to know about Bixby Routines and how to use them like a pro.

What Are Bixby Routines?

Bixby Routines are like real-life routines that you perform regularly on your phone. Instead of manually performing these tasks each time, you can automate them using Bixby Routines. These routines are based on the principle of “If This Then That” (IFTTT). In other words, an action will be carried out once certain conditions are met. These conditions can include your location, the time of day, specific apps, or settings on your phone. With Bixby Routines, you can automate sequences and actions that you regularly perform on your phone. The possibilities are endless.

How to Enable Bixby Routines

Before you can create or edit Bixby Routines, you need to enable them on your Samsung Galaxy phone. Open the Settings app and go to Advanced features. Enable the toggle next to Bixby Routines.

How to Create Bixby Routines

You can create a Bixby Routine from scratch or modify an existing one to suit your requirements. To customize an existing Bixby Routine, go to Settings > Advanced features > Bixby Routines and tap on a suggested routine. Here, you can edit the conditions and actions of the routine. Once you're satisfied, tap Save to create the routine.

To create a custom Bixby Routine, go to Settings > Advanced features > Bixby Routines and tap on the Add routine tab. From there, you can create conditions and actions for your routine. You can choose from various settings, accessibility features, effects, functions, and even run a Macro. Once you've set up the routine, tap Done to save the changes.

How to Run or Play a Routine

Once you've saved a routine, it will run automatically when the specified conditions are met. If you want to manually start a routine, you can add a Routine widget to your home screen. Simply press the Start button in the Routine widget to play it.

How to Edit Routines

To edit a routine, go to Settings > Advanced features > Bixby Routines and tap on the My routines tab. Tap on the routine you want to edit and press the Edit button. From there, you can change the conditions or actions of the routine.

How to Turn off a Routine

If you want to temporarily pause or turn off a routine without deleting it, go to Settings > Advanced features > Bixby Routines. Tap on the routine you want to disable and press the three-dot icon at the top. Select Disable this routine. The routine will be disabled and won't run until you enable it again.

How to Delete a Routine

If you want to delete a routine completely, go to Settings > Advanced features > Bixby Routines. Tap on the routine you want to delete and press the three-dot icon. Choose Delete from the menu. Please note that if you delete a routine, you'll need to recreate it if you want to use it again.

How to Create a Macro

While Bixby Routines are powerful, they have limitations when it comes to individual apps. To automate actions in a specific app, you can use Macros in Bixby Routines. Macros are a series of touch actions that you can record and then replay. To use this feature, you'll need to install the Good Lock app and use its Routines+ module. From there, you can create a Macro Routine and record the actions you want to automate.

How to View Routine History

You can check the time at which a routine was triggered and when it ended by viewing the routine history. To do this, go to the Bixby Routines page and tap on the three-dot icon. Select History from the menu.

How to Turn off All Routines

If you want to temporarily disable all of your routines, you can do so by going to Settings > Advanced features and turning off the toggle for Bixby Routines. Alternatively, you can press the Bixby Routines button in the Quick Tile Menu.
