9 Tips to Master the Taskbar on Samsung Galaxy Fold Phones
The Samsung Galaxy Fold phones come with a super useful taskbar feature. Much like the taskbars on a computer, this toolbar gives you quick access to your favorite and recent apps. It also makes multitasking a breeze.
Enable the Taskbar on Your Fold's Main Screen
The taskbar only works on your Fold's large inner display, not the smaller cover screen. To enable it:
- Open Settings on your Fold's main screen.
- Tap Display > Taskbar.
- Turn on the toggle next to Off.
You'll now see the taskbar pop up when you open any app. Tap an icon to launch that app.
Pin Your Most Used Apps to the Taskbar
The taskbar can display up to 8 apps – 6 pinned ones on the left and 2 recent ones on the right. The pinned apps mirror those you've added to the home screen's bottom row.
To customize the pinned apps:
- Go to your Fold's home screen.
- Drag apps or folders to the bottom dock.
Launch Apps in Split Screen View from the Taskbar
The taskbar lets you easily multitask with split screen view. To use:
- Open an app on your Fold.
- Long press a taskbar app icon.
- Drag it left, right or top to split the screen.
You can split view up to 3 apps this way on Fold models.
Add App Pairs to the Taskbar
App pairs open two or three split screen apps together. To create:
- Manually open apps in split view.
- Tap the center 3-dot menu > Star icon.
- Choose Taskbar when prompted.
Now tap the pair icon to instantly split those apps.
Access Any App from the Taskbar
To launch apps not pinned or recently used:
- Tap the 9-dot grid on the far left of the taskbar.
- Select an app to open it.
You can also search for apps here.
Put Any App in Split Screen or Pop-Up View
You can split screen or pop-up view ANY app from the taskbar:
- Tap the 9-dot grid icon on the taskbar.
- Long press the desired app icon.
- Drag it left/right for split view or towards the center for pop-up.
Hide the Taskbar Temporarily
To quickly hide the taskbar when needed:
- Long press any empty spot on the toolbar.
- Repeat to restore it.
If that doesn't work, enable Show and hide with touch and hold in the taskbar settings. Note – this only functions with gesture navigation.
Turn Off the Taskbar Entirely
Don't want the taskbar at all? Disable it with these steps:
- Go to Settings > Display > Taskbar.
- Turn off the toggle next to On.
Key Taskbar Facts
The Galaxy Fold taskbar:
