4 Easy Ways to Put Two Pictures Side by Side in MS Word
In Microsoft Word, arranging two pictures side by side can be a bit tricky. By default, images are stacked vertically and moving them around requires some know-how. But don't worry, we've got you covered! In this article, we will guide you through four simple methods to put two pictures side by side in MS Word.
Method 1: Using Drag and Drop
One of the easiest ways to keep two pictures side by side in Word is by using the drag and drop functionality.
Drag and Drop on PC and Web
- Insert the first image in your Word document by going to Insert > Pictures.
- Keep the cursor at the bottom-right corner of the first picture and add the second picture from Insert > Pictures.
- Click on the second picture to select it. A four-sided arrow will appear. Hold the mouse button and drag the second image to the right side of the first image.
- If nothing happens, click on the first image and make it smaller using the top-right corner edge until the second image automatically appears next to it.
- To avoid any text displacement, double-click on each image separately, open the Picture Format tab, click on Wrap text, and select In line with text.
- Resize both images as desired.
- Place the cursor at the end of the line above the images, move the cursor twice using the right arrow button, and press the Spacebar key multiple times to add some space between the images.
Drag and Drop on Android and iPhone
- Open the Word document where you want to add the images.
- Tap on the Edit icon at the top to start editing the document.
- Place the cursor where you want to add the images.
- Swipe left on the toolbar at the bottom until you see the Picture icon. Tap on it to select and add the images.
- After adding both images, tap on the first image to select it and resize it using the corner edges.
- Touch and hold the second image, drag it next to the first image, and resize both images to align them neatly.
Method 2: Using a Table
If the drag and drop method seems cumbersome or doesn't work for you, try putting two pictures side by side using a table.
- Open the Word document on Windows, macOS, or the web version.
- Keep your cursor in a new line where you want to add the images.
- Click on Insert > Table and select a 2×1 table.
- Place the cursor in the first column and add the first image using Insert > Pictures.
- Place the cursor in the second column and insert the second image.
- Resize both images as desired.
- Remove the table border by selecting the table and choosing No border from the options.
Method 3: Using Text Box (Windows, macOS)
Similar to using a table, you can also add two text boxes and put images in them.
- In the Word document, place the cursor where you want to add the images.
- Click on the Insert tab in the menu bar, go to Text box, and select Simple text box.
- Delete the text from the text box.
- Add the desired image using Insert > Pictures.
- Drag the image to the desired location.
- Repeat steps 2-5 to add the second image and position it next to the first image.
- Delete any extra text boxes that may appear.
