Japan gets Xperia Tablet Z
If you live in Japan you could get your hands on the brand new Xperia Tablet Z by Sony over the weekend.
[UPDATED: Sony Xperia Tablet Z is now available for pre order both for the 16GB and 32GB model. US release date is set to May 24.]Internationally however, we are still 6 weeks away, and will have to wait until the end of May to be able to buy it. Or do we? It now looks like some companies are trying to cash in on the thought that Sony's latest tablet is going to be one of the hottest tablets of 2013, and have decided to offer export models from Japan to the US.
But it comes with a price, a whole $999 in fact. That's twice the price of the $499 MSRP it will be sold with when it launches next month.
Sony's latest 10.1 inch tablet may be waterproof, very thin, have a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1920×1200 display, and the great sounding ClearAudio+ audio feature – but you have to be a real die hard Sony fan to pay double for it. So it looks like this offer will stay on the shelf for a while.
Even with the specs listed above, the regular $499 MSRP is still a little steep. Just like the Sony Xperia Z phone from the same product line.
But don't get us wrong, we can't wait to see Sony's newest tablet in use. We just hope the price won't scare people away too much.
