Wi-Fi Password Cracking Made Easy with Wifite
Have you ever wanted to crack a Wi-Fi password but found the process too complex? Well, here's some good news for you. With the help of a tool called Wifite, you can easily decipher any WPA Wi-Fi password in just a few simple steps. Best of all, this tool is built-in and requires no pre-requisites. So, let's dive into how you can crack a Wi-Fi password using Wifite.
Step 1: Download and Install Kali Linux
To get started, you'll need to download the ISO file for Kali Linux. Head over to the Kali Linux Download page and download the appropriate version for your machine. Once downloaded, you can use a USB bootable software like Rufus to flash the ISO file onto a USB flash drive.
Step 2: Boot into Kali Linux
After flashing the ISO file onto the USB flash drive, boot your Windows PC using the USB drive. Select “Kali Live” from the boot menu to boot into Kali Linux without installing it on your system. This way, any changes you make will not be saved once you shut down your PC.
Step 3: Open the Terminal
Once you're booted into Kali Linux, open the Terminal by clicking on the Terminal icon in the app drawer on the left-hand side.
Step 4: Put Wi-Fi into Monitor Mode
Before running the Wifite command, make sure your Wi-Fi is turned on. In the Terminal, type the following command:
wifite
This command will put your Wi-Fi into monitor mode and start scanning for nearby Wi-Fi networks. When you see the Wi-Fi network you want to work with, press Ctrl+C to stop the scanning process. Select the number corresponding to your Wi-Fi network and hit Enter.
Step 5: Decrypt the Password
Wifite will now start watching for packets being exchanged between the router and other clients. It waits for a client to connect to the Wi-Fi network in order to decrypt the password. Once it successfully decrypts the password, it will be displayed on the Terminal. Additionally, a text file called “cracked.txt” will be created in your /home directory with all the details.
That's it! You've successfully cracked the Wi-Fi password using Wifite. However, keep in mind that this method may not work if your Wi-Fi card doesn't support monitor mode. In that case, you can consider getting a Wi-Fi USB adapter that supports monitor mode.
Wifite is a Python script that internally uses the Aircrack-ng suite. It comes pre-installed in Kali Linux along with all the necessary dependencies. For more information, you can visit the GitHub repo.
So, the next time you need to crack a Wi-Fi password, give Wifite a try. It's a powerful tool that makes the process quick and easy. Just remember to use it responsibly and only on your own Wi-Fi network or with proper authorization.
Happy hacking!
