Why Some Discord Servers Aren’t Showing Up and How to Fix It

There can be various reasons why you might not see certain Discord servers on your account or why your Discord is not working on Mac. It could be due to a technical issue, specific Discord settings hiding certain servers, or even being blocked or kicked out from the server. Regardless of the cause, there are ways to determine why Discord servers are not visible and how to find them. In this article, we will explore different solutions to this problem.

Check Whether You Are on the Right Account

One common reason for not seeing the server you are looking for is that you might be logged into another account. To resolve this, check the account you are currently logged in to.

On Desktop:

  1. Look at the profile picture and username at the bottom left corner. If you are logged into a different account, click on the profile picture and select the “Switch account” option.
  2. Then select the account where you are a member of the server. If that account is not available, click on the “Manage Accounts” option and log in with the Discord account that can access the server.

On Phone:

  1. Tap on the profile icon at the bottom right corner to check your current account.
  2. To switch accounts, scroll down on the profile page and select the “Log Out” option. Then log back in with the account that can access the server.

Refresh Discord

If you are signed into the correct account, it might be a small technical glitch causing Discord to not load the server properly.

On Desktop:
If you are using the web version or the Discord desktop app, refresh the Discord account by pressing “Ctrl + R” to reload the app. In most cases, this should fix the issue.

On Phone:
Whether you are using Android or iOS, open the recent apps screen and remove the Discord app from there. Then open the Discord app again to see if all servers are loading and visible.

Restart Discord

If refreshing Discord doesn't solve the issue, try closing the app completely and restarting it.

On Windows:
Open Task Manager from the Windows Search, search for the Discord app in the task manager, and select it. Click on the “End task” option on the top bar to completely close the Discord app. Then reopen the app to restart it.

On Mac:
Right-click on the Discord icon on the dock and select the “Quit” option to close the app completely. Then restart the app again from scratch.

On Android:

  1. Open the Settings app, select Apps, and then select Discord.
  2. Tap on the “Force Stop” option to completely stop the app from running in the background. Now reopen the Discord app to restart it.

Re-Login to Discord

Sometimes, the issue might be specific to a particular device. Try logging in to the same account on other devices as well. You can also log out of the current device and log back in to see if the Discord server becomes visible.

On Desktop:

  1. Click on the cog icon at the bottom right corner beside the username.
  2. On the Settings page, scroll down and click on the “Logout” option in the left sidebar. Sign in again with your username and password on the same device.

On Phone:
Tap on the profile icon at the bottom right corner, then select the “Logout” option. Log back in and check if you can find the Discord server that was previously not visible.

Clear Discord Cache

If you are experiencing the issue on a single device and some servers are not loading or new servers are not appearing, try deleting the cache of the Discord app.

On Windows:

  1. Press “Windows + R” to open Run. Type “%appdata%” and click “OK”.
  2. This opens the app data location in File Explorer. Open the Discord folder.
  3. Select all the files by pressing “Ctrl + A”, right-click on the selected files, and click on the “Delete” button. This will delete the Discord cache on your PC. Open the Discord app again to recreate fresh cache data.

On Android:
Open the Settings app, select Apps, and then select Discord. Open the Discord app info page and select the “Storage and cache” option. Tap on the “Clear Cache” option to delete all the Discord cache.

On Browser:
If you are using Discord on a browser, click on the three-dot menu at the top right corner and select the “Settings” option. Then go to “Privacy and security > Clear browsing data” and select “Cached images and files.” Finally, click on the “Clear data” button to clear all the browser cache.

Turn on Age Restricted Content on iOS

By default, age-restricted servers are not visible on the Discord iOS app. To view age-restricted servers on the Discord iOS app, you need to enable this feature. However, you cannot enable it from the Discord iOS app itself. Instead, you need to enable it from the desktop web app or the native desktop app.

  1. Open the Discord app on your desktop. Click on the cog icon at the bottom left corner to open user settings.
  2. On the User Settings page, select the “Privacy and Safety” option in the left sidebar.
  3. Enable the toggle beside “Allow access to age-restricted content on iOS.”
You can now open the Discord app on your iPhone and access all servers, including the age-restricted ones.

Try Rejoining the Server

If none of the above solutions work, you might have been kicked out or banned from the Discord server, or the server itself might have been deleted. Try rejoining the server to find out.

Click/tap on the compass icon at the bottom of the server bar on the left. Search for the server you want to access. If you can find the server, you may have been kicked out by a moderator and can join the server again. If you cannot find the server, you might have been blocked or the server admin may not have listed the server in the Server Discovery section. Alternatively, if you have an invite link available, you can join the server using that link.

Your Account Might Be Banned From That Server

To determine if you are blocked on a server, click on the invite link. If you see an error message saying “Invalid Invite, The user is banned from this guild,” it means you have been banned from that server. In this case, you can reach out to the server admin or moderators to request an unban.

The Server Might Be Deleted

If you encounter an “Invalid link” error when clicking on the invite link to rejoin the server, it could mean that the invitation link has expired or the server has been deleted. The only way to confirm is by contacting the server admins.

In conclusion, if you are unable to see certain Discord servers on any device, you can use the methods mentioned above to access those servers or determine why they are no longer available and continue your Discord server search. On the other hand, if you want to hide channels on any Discord server, there are ways to do that as well.
