The First Tablet Computer Concepts from 1968
Tablet Computers for consumers may not have been around for long, but they were conceptualized a long time ago. Not to mention that Microsoft partnered with pc manufacturers for years in their push to focus on the convenience and possibilities of tablets and hybrid laptops – though without Apple-like success.
As a lot of you may already know, the oldest video known to exist of a iPad/tablet concept is from the 1968 movie “2001: A Space Odyssey”, featured below.
Closer to our present Internet age however, is the video below from 1994, showing in detail how the media company and Internet publisher Knight Ridder envisioned future consumption of media on tablet computers. By todays standard, this video looks almost like a blueprint for Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets.

Jim's passion for Apple products ignited in 2007 when Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone. This was a canon event in his life. Noticing a lack of iPad-focused content that is easy to understand even for “tech-noob”, he decided to create Tabletmonkeys in 2011.
Jim continues to share his expertise and passion for tablets, helping his audience as much as he can with his motto “One Swipe at a Time!”
