WinFuture have discovered that Microsoft looks like it may have a processor upgrade ready for the Microsoft Surface Book 2 13.5, as Surface Book 2 with an Intel Core i5-8350U processor was seen on the order list for some retailers with a possible release in coming weeks.
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 was released in November 2017, so upgrading the processor on at least the Intel Core i5 version is a good idea. An upgrade from the dual-core Intel Core i5-7300U processor to a quad-core Intel Core i5-8350U processor will offer a very significant performance increase, ranging from 30% to 100% in performance boost depending on the task.
Surface Book is always very popular among engineers, and they’ll love the extra speed and capacity if Microsoft doesn’t raise the price of it. We’ll see if Microsoft will announce other changes to the Surface Book 2, with either the GPU, battery, or any form of accessory.
The Intel Core i5-8350U processor is already available on the “Surface Pro 6 for Business” but not on the regular consumer version, though at least the Intel Core i5-8250U processor is available there.
