Share ChatGPT Conversations Easily
Have you ever had a funny or interesting conversation with ChatGPT? You can now easily share those conversations with others directly from ChatGPT itself. In this article, we will guide you on how to share your ChatGPT conversations, who can access them, and how to unshare them.
How to Share ChatGPT Conversations
Sharing ChatGPT conversations is simple and can be done using a share link that is generated on the fly. Here's how you can generate a share link:
- Go to the ChatGPT website and open the conversation you want to share.
- Once on the conversation page, click on the Share icon at the top right corner.
- A pop-up window will appear. By default, the conversation will be shared anonymously. If you want to include your name, click on the three-dot icon and select the Share your name option.
- Once you're ready to share, click on the Copy Link button at the bottom right corner of the pop-up window. You can now share this link with anyone you want to share the ChatGPT conversation with.
Anyone with the link can open and read the conversation without needing a ChatGPT account. They can even continue the conversation directly on their ChatGPT, but it won't be saved in their chat history.
How to Delete Your Shared ChatGPT Conversation
If you accidentally shared a conversation or shared it with the wrong person, you can delete it. Here's how:
- Open the conversation and click on the Share button at the top right corner.
- In the pop-up window, click on the three-dot icon and select the Delete Link option.
Deleting the shared link will result in a 404 Error page for anyone who tries to access it.
How to Delete All Shared Links on ChatGPT
If you have multiple shared links or want to delete all shared links, you can do so by following these steps:
- On the ChatGPT website, click on the three-dot menu at the bottom left corner beside your username.
- Select the Settings option from the pop-up menu.
- In the Settings pop-up, select the Data controls option in the sidebar.
- Click on the Manage button next to the Shared links option.
- Here, you can view all the conversations you have shared. Delete any particular conversation by clicking on the Delete icon next to the shared link.
- To delete all conversations, click on the three-dot menu at the top right corner of the pop-up and select the Delete all shared links option.
You can try these methods to easily delete data from ChatGPT.
Can You Continue the Conversation After Sharing?
Yes, you can continue the conversation even after sharing it. However, any new messages or edits you make will not be reflected in the shared link. It's like sharing a snapshot of the conversation. Similarly, the other person can continue the chat, but their conversations will not be saved and available to you.
How to Update and Share Full Conversation
If you want to update a shared link to include the latest messages, you will need to delete the previous link and create a new one. Here's how:
- Open the conversation you want to update on ChatGPT. Click on the Share option next to that conversation in the left sidebar.
- In the pop-up, click on the three-dot icon and select the Delete Link option to delete the shared link.
- Click on the Share icon at the top right corner again. Then, click on the Copy Link button to generate a new link with the full conversation.
By following these steps, you can easily share and manage your ChatGPT conversations. Remember to be cautious with personal and sensitive details in the conversations you share.
