Samsung Tablet Won’t Turn On: Common Causes and Solutions
To turn on a Samsung Galaxy tablet, follow this guide. If holding the Power button for a few seconds doesn't work, try pressing and holding Volume Down for 15 seconds.
Turning On Your Samsung Galaxy Tablet
There are many kinds of Samsung Galaxy tablets, like the affordable Tab A series and the high-end Tab S series. They all turn on the same way.
To turn on any Samsung tablet, find the slim button on the top or side of the tablet. This is the Power button. Press and hold it for a few seconds.
Make sure your tablet is charged or plugged in. When you press the Power button, the tablet will start to boot up. You will see the boot-up screen first. After a few moments, the lock screen will appear. From here, you can unlock your tablet and use all your apps.
If your tablet doesn’t turn on, it might be out of battery. Plug it into a charger and wait a few minutes before trying again. Sometimes, if the tablet is completely dead, it needs a bit of time to charge before it can power on.
If your tablet still doesn’t turn on after charging, try pressing and holding the Power button for a longer time.
Sometimes, this can help to reset the device. If it still doesn’t work, there might be a bigger issue with the tablet, and you may need to contact Samsung support or take it to a repair shop.
Tip: Ignore the front buttons on your tablet; they are not the main power buttons.
Force Restart a Non-Responsive Samsung Tablet
If your tablet doesn’t turn on after pressing the power button for a few seconds and you see a black screen, try these steps:
Charge the Tablet:
Plug the tablet in and leave it charging for at least 15 minutes. You might see a charging indicator. After that, try turning it on normally.
Force Restart:
If the tablet is charged but still won't turn on, hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons together for about 10-15 seconds until the boot cycle starts. Then release the buttons.
Extended Power Hold:
If the Power + Volume Down combination doesn’t work, and the tablet is charged, hold the power button for at least two minutes. This can sometimes reset a frozen tablet stuck on a black screen.
Battery Drain and Recharge:
As a last resort, let the battery drain completely. Leave the tablet off for 30 minutes, then plug it in for at least 15 minutes before trying to power it on again.
If these methods fail, contact Samsung for repair or take the tablet to a certified service center.
