Original text: The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has proven highly popular with consumers, surpassing even the larger Galaxy Z Fold 5 in appeal. Its lower cost and convenient size make it a preferred choice.

In 2024, Samsung plans to update this series with the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Here's what we're anticipating, what we've learned, and what we're hoping to see!

Is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Coming Soon?

The Galaxy Flip series has gained popularity among consumers. While traditional glass slab smartphones remain more favored than foldables, clamshell designs like the Galaxy Flip 5 have played a pivotal role in shifting public perceptions.

Samsung holds a significant edge in this market due to effective marketing, widespread distribution, and early adoption of foldable technology.

It seems unlikely that Samsung will relinquish its advantage in this promising space.

Despite no official announcements, indications suggest a forthcoming release of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, potentially as a minor upgrade.

Speculation surrounding the device continues to grow, further supporting this expectation.

Is a More Affordable Galaxy Z Flip 6?

Samsung is reportedly aiming to lower prices for its foldable phones based on leaks and rumors. The Galaxy Flip series is positioned as a more affordable option compared to the Galaxy Fold lineup.

While there is speculation about a cheaper version of the clamshell foldable, recent leaks suggest Samsung may prioritize launching a more affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 instead.

Although reports have not ruled out the possibility of a cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 6, current indications favor a lower-cost Fold 6 release this year.

When Will the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Most Likely Be Released?

Samsung typically introduces its next generation of foldable phones in early August each year.

This year, however, they've announced an Unpacked event on July 10, suggesting an earlier launch for their new foldables alongside the Galaxy Watch 7 family.

What to Expect from the Galaxy Z Flip 6?

Samsung has not yet officially confirmed details about the Galaxy Z Flip 6. However, early leaked images from OnLeaks and Smartprix provide a glimpse of its design.

These images suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 closely resembles its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Notably, the leaked renders show a boxier shape with sharper edges, unlike the slightly curved design of the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Additionally, there are two microphone holes visible at the top of the device in these renders, indicating a subtle alteration in its appearance.

We currently lack official images, but recent leaks of a purported Flip 6 prototype appear to confirm the design shown in earlier renders.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is rumored to feature a 3.4-inch external display and a 6.7-inch foldable internal screen.

Yet, according to display analyst Ross Young, there's speculation that the Flip 6's external display could measure close to 3.9 inches.

According to OnLeaks, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is anticipated to have dimensions of around 165.0 x 71.7 x 7.4mm, slightly larger than the Galaxy Z Flip 5's 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm size.

This change primarily involves a slightly thicker body, which supports rumors of a larger battery.

On March 7, Young revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be available in Light Blue, Light Green (referred to as “Mint”), Silver (“Silver Shadow”), and Yellow colors.

Evan Blass later confirmed this on June 11, mentioning a total of seven launch colors, including three exclusive online options: Crafted Black, White, and Peach.

The image displayed appears to be an official marketing image leaked by Samsung Kazakhstan.

This leak reinforces the idea that the Flip 6 will feature a more boxy design than its predecessors. It showcases flat edges and a new camera design with a metallic ring for added contrast.

What Potential Specs and Features Might the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Offer?

In recent months, various rumors surrounding the Galaxy Z Flip 6 have surfaced. A recent leak from SmartPrix has provided substantial information, potentially confirming nearly all specifications of the device.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is set to include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, as per recent leaks.

It's rumored to offer 12GB of RAM and storage options of either 256GB or 512GB, according to recent leaks from Evan Blass. This aligns with reports of vapor chamber cooling.

Regarding displays, reports suggest a 6.7-inch AMOLED folding screen and a 3.4-inch cover display, although the latter might use an IPS LCD screen instead of the OLED found in the Z Flip 5.

Battery details from FCC filings indicate dual-cell batteries totaling 3,790mAh, which may be marketed as 3,900 or even 4,000mAh. Charging speed remains unchanged at 25W, similar to the Z Flip 5.

There's anticipation for a notable upgrade in the main camera, possibly a 50MP f/1.8 sensor, a departure from the 12MP cameras used in previous models.

The camera setup appears unchanged from the Z Flip 5, with Blass's leak suggesting a 12MP ultrawide rear camera and a 10MP front camera.

Leaks indicate storage options of 256GB and 512GB for the Flip 6, confirmed by Australian retailers in June 2024.

The device will also feature Victus 2 protection for the cover screen, an Armor Aluminum frame, and hinge.

Additionally, The Elec's May 17 report suggests the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could feature thicker ultra-thin glass (UTG) on its folding screen, aimed at enhancing surface hardness and reducing display creases.

The Z Flip 6 is also expected to retain the hinge design from the Z Flip 5.

Estimated Cost of the Galaxy Z Flip 6

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in the US with a starting price close to $1,000.

This pricing is well-received by consumers, with many seeing $999 as an attractive threshold. Samsung aims to maintain this affordability for the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Recent leaks suggest the 256GB model could start at $1,099, and the 512GB version may be priced at $1,219. Reports also indicate a possible price increase for European markets.
