Open Ear Sony LinkBuds Unveiled
Sony announced a new form of earbuds today in the form of the Sony LinkBuds, an open earbud pair which lets the ears capture external sounds and ventilate more naturally:

The Sony LinkBuds comes in black or white and launches in the middle of the price range for earbuds these days.
I guess the way to think about them is as speakers you carry around with you, since they will also let you take in sounds from around you in a city, although you'll be the only person hearing the music and phone calls in your earbuds.
The controllers for them are actually gesture based, so users can take in front of their ears to control volume or tracks, for instance.
They are small, so Sony ships them with four differently sized spaces to make them fit into as many ears as possible, but of course there will always be people who have too much room in their ears for the standard fittings, so we'll see if Sony will make even more of these spacers down the line.
The other drawback is that these LinkBuds haven't got room for the world's largest bass elements. So they are probably more suited for people who want the smallest, lightest, and most comfortable earbuds there is with clear sounds in all other sound spectrums, such as podcasts and phone conversations.
Other features are Alexa built-in, an IPX4 splash proof rating against rain and water, 360 reality audio, 90 minutes of power from 10 minutes charging, and an included charging case.
