Nubia Flip 2: Certification Hints at Imminent Launch
Hot on the heels of their first clamshell success, Nubia's getting ready to flip the script with their newest foldable.
The Nubia Flip 2 (model NX732J) has just popped up on TENAA's certification database, giving us our first real peek at what's coming.
Supersized External Display Takes Center Stage
The biggest eye-catcher? A completely revamped external display. Unlike its predecessor's circular screen, the Flip 2 sports a larger 3-inch rectangular display with a crisp 422 × 682-pixel resolution.
This puts it in direct competition with devices like the Motorola Razr series, which have popularized larger external screens on flip phones.
Camera System Gets a Fresh Look
Flanking that new display is an upgraded camera setup:
- Main camera: 50MP (up from the previous generation)
- Secondary sensor: 2MP
- New addition: Circular LED flash for better low-light shots
Inside, you'll find a 32MP selfie camera nestled in a hole-punch cutout on the main display. Speaking of which, the interior screen keeps its impressive 6.85-inch AMOLED panel, pushing a resolution of 1188 × 2970 pixels.
Slimming Down While Powering Up
While maintaining similar dimensions to its predecessor, the Flip 2 has been on a diet – it's shed 21 grams, bringing the total weight down to a pocket-friendly 193g. Under the hood, Nubia's packed in:
- Up to 12GB of RAM for smooth multitasking
- A 4,225mAh battery for all-day power
Market Impact and Availability
Though pricing remains under wraps, analysts suggest the Nubia Flip 2 could shake up the mid-range foldable market, especially in regions like India, where affordable foldables are gaining traction. This positions it as a potential competitor to devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series.
The device's appearance on TENAA typically signals an imminent launch, so we might not have to wait long to see how this next-generation flipper performs in the real world.
