MediaTek’s Dimensity 8400 Outperforms Snapdragon Rivals in Latest Benchmark Tests
Fresh benchmark results reveal MediaTek's latest mid-range processor, the Dimensity 8400, packs quite a punch. The chip, which debuts in Xiaomi's Redmi Turbo 4, has surprised industry watchers by outperforming several Snapdragon competitors in key performance metrics.
Benchmark Breakdown
The Dimensity 8400's impressive showing in AnTuTu testing yielded a score of 1,799,330 points, handily beating both the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 (1,654,675) and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 (1,497,646). Graphics performance proved equally strong, with the chip scoring 4,086 points in 3DMark WildLife Extreme – significantly ahead of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3's 3,161 points.
GPU Performance Leap
In GPU-specific tests, the results tell an interesting story. The Redmi Turbo 4, powered by the Dimensity 8400, achieved 658,114 points in AnTuTu's GPU test. This marks a substantial lead over both Snapdragon competitors:
- Snapdragon 8s Gen 3: 506,197 points
- Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3: 472,913 points
Processing Power
Geekbench 6 results show the Dimensity 8400 scoring:
- Single-core: 1,639 points
- Multi-core: 6,500 points
While single-core performance shows modest gains over its predecessor (the Dimensity 8300), the multi-core improvements are substantial enough to edge out both Snapdragon rivals.
The chip will make its global debut in the POCO X7 Pro, set to launch January 9th with an expected starting price of €369. Early performance indicators suggest MediaTek has delivered a compelling mid-range processor that punches above its weight class.
