Linux Tablet PineTab 2 Announced – Aiming To Go On Offer In February 2023

The first PineTab Linux tablet was launched 2 1/2 years ago, and today the collaborators of Pine64 announced the successor PineTab 2.

Announced so far is a metal chassis with snap tabs that's intended to make it easer to open and thus upgrade and tweak the hardware on. They even said that they will offer replacement parts a while after launch.

Specs announced thus far includes a Rockchip RK3588 processor, 4GB of RAM with 64GB flash storage, or 8GB of RAM and 128GB flash storage, 2x USB C ports (3.0 and 2.0 for charging), micro HDMI port, a microSD slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, a 2MP front camera, and a 5MP rear camera.

Pine64 haven't decided on the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth modules yet. So all specifications are not final as of today. The same goes for the price, though it is intended to be affordable, in line with the Pine64 community spirit and principles of the Linux collaborators behind it.

But the PineTab V2 tablet will continue to feature a backlit keyboard with trackpad, just like the predecessor.

Currently Pine64 plans to offer it after the Chinese New Year (early February), so we'll keep you girls and boys updated along the way once all the specs have been finalized or it goes through some other developments.
